Summary
The RGN Dispatcher is the first point of contact between drivers and the company. This role is responsible for dispatching and monitoring drivers and equipment for scheduled workloads, while ensuring on-time deliveries and maintaining company policies, safety standards, and customer satisfaction. Success in this position requires strong communication, attention to detail, and effective time management.
Key Responsibilities
Operations
Oversee and direct a fleet of drivers daily, assigning loads, tasks, and instructions.
Maximize productivity through efficient load planning, reducing empty miles, and increasing revenue per mile.
Coordinate with planning, sales, and dispatch teams to organize freight.
Schedule, dispatch, and monitor drivers and equipment according to customer requests and specifications.
Monitor driver/equipment locations and resolve issues quickly to minimize service interruptions.
Confirm ETAs, appointments, and required border-crossing documents (PARS/PAPS).
Communicate load changes immediately to CSR/Planners.
Support drivers in troubleshooting difficult situations.
Exchange information with customs brokers and ensure compliance with DOT, FMCSA, CBP, and CBSA regulations.
HR & Safety
Act as the first line of contact with drivers, building strong relationships and ensuring regular communication.
Monitor driver logs for compliance with Hours of Service regulations.
Work with HR and safety teams to schedule random drug testing, address performance concerns, and monitor safety records.
Assist the safety team with ensuring cargo securement regulations are followed and report any incidents or hazards.
Manage driver scheduling, including vacation, leaves of absence, and returns-to-work.
Qualifications
High School Diploma or GED required.
1–2 years of experience in the transportation industry preferred.
CCLP designationis considered an asset.
Skills & Abilities
Strong technical skills and ability to use industry programs and systems.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
High attention to detail and accuracy.
Effective time management and planning skills.
Strong problem-solving skills for handling last-minute loads or emergencies.
Availability outside of standard business hours when required.
