POSITION PURPOSE:
This position is responsible for supervision of the billing specialists and accounts receivable specialists in all functions of billing, coding, collections and revenue cycle management to ensure accurate and timely processes in accordance with payer guidelines and Aviva Health policies and procedures. The Revenue Cycle Supervisor will directly supervise department staff, including assisting with the hiring process, onboarding, training, coaching, correction, and performance management.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Oversight of the billing services, including coding, billing and management of accounts receivable, acting as a resource and troubleshooter for the billing team. Monitor and direct employee workflows when necessary.
Maintain a cohesive and supportive high-performance team environment by establishing clear expectations for staff, monitoring performance, conducting regular one-on-one meetings to identify opportunities for guidance and coaching, and foster a positive, professional, and accountable team culture.
Manage department timecards and accurately track leaves of absence including Paid Time Off (PTO), FMLA, OFLA, Paid Leave Oregon (PLO).
Maintain working knowledge of all medical and behavioral health billing specialties that are provided at Aviva Health.
Responsible for billing and managing accounts for an assigned panel of healthcare providers.
Remain current on rules and regulations regarding billing and coding practices.
Provide education to new healthcare providers on proper coding techniques.
Develop and maintain positive relationships with healthcare providers and provide ongoing support.
Oversee development and implementation of training for health center employees and healthcare providers as necessary.
Direct chart audits, including quarterly retrospective chart audits as well as special request audits and provide appropriate feedback and guidance to clinical and billing staff.
Together with the Revenue Cycle Manager, prepare and conduct regular employee performance reviews (monthly, quarterly) and annual performance evaluations.
Supervise patient collections to ensure compliance with company and regulatory rules and standards, including but not limited to sliding scale adjustments, hardship approvals, private pay discount procedures.
Periodic travel including use of personal or company vehicle.
Provide an example of accountability by following all Aviva Health policies and procedures.
Attend leadership and supervisor trainings for ongoing development.
Assist Revenue Cycle Manager and/or billing team with additional duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
High School or GED required; Associate’s degree preferred.
Minimum of two years of experience in a medical/dental office setting; supervisory experience preferred.
Experience with electronic medical record (EMR) required.
Experience and knowledge in medical billing (ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS), and income verification procedures required.
Knowledge of collection procedures preferred.
Strong administrative support skills and excellent leadership skills required.
Working knowledge of federal and state regulatory environment required.
Ability to communicate effectively with team members required.
