Job Title: Respiratory Therapist, Registered or Certified
Department: Cardio-Pulmonary
Employment Status: Full-Time
Location: Harrison County Community Hospital (HCCH)
Reports to: Respiratory Therapy Director
Job Summary/Objective
The Respiratory Therapist Registered (RRT)/ Certified (CRT) is responsible for implementing medical
prescriptions for respiratory care, maintaining adequate supplies and equipment, and providing
high- quality respiratory therapy services. The RRT will assess patients' respiratory conditions, recognize
adverse effects of treatments, and take appropriate corrective actions. This role may also involve
outpatient testing, pulmonology clinic, participation in patient education, working with a team,
equipment evaluation, and repair.
Essential Functions/Duties/Responsibilities
• Administer respiratory therapy as prescribed by physicians.
• Monitor and assess patients' respiratory status, symptoms, and response to treatments.
• Recognize and address adverse effects of respiratory treatments, implementing corrective
actions as needed.
• Understand and manage the properties and combustible characteristics of compressed
gases.
• Maintain and manage respiratory therapy equipment and supplies.
• Apply knowledge of isolation techniques, anatomy, and vital signs measurement (e.g.,
blood pressure, pulse, respirations).
• Participate in patient education and outpatient testing/pulmonology clinic.
• Evaluate and repair respiratory therapy equipment as required.
• Document patient care and therapy outcomes accurately

Education and Experience
• Education: Graduate of an accredited respiratory therapy program.
• Certification:
o RT/CRT or current MO license in Respiratory Care required.
o BLS upon hire or within 30 days.
o ACLS required within 6 months of hire.
o PALS required within 6 months of hire.
• Experience: Prior experience in respiratory care preferred.
Physical Requirements
• Ability to perform tasks that require prolonged periods of standing and walking.
• Must be able to lift, move, or support patients and equipment as needed.
• Manual dexterity for operating respiratory care equipment.
