Job Description

JOB SUMMARY: The Residential Therapist provides quality care and professional treatment, counseling and skills training to male adolescent and young persons served in a residential substance abuse treatment setting.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Counsel persons served individually and in group sessions to assist in overcoming dependencies, adjusting to life, and making changes.

Complete and maintain accurate records and reports regarding the persons served histories and progress, services provided, and other required information.

Coordinate counseling efforts with mental health and other health professionals such as doctors and social workers.

Create and modify treatment plans, based on assessment and persons served histories, to comply with changes in persons served status. Review and evaluate clients' progress in relation to measurable goals described in treatment plans.

In collaboration with the family therapist and case manager, plan and implement follow-up and aftercare programs for persons served to be discharged from treatment programs.

Confer with courts, probation officers and other community services to keep them informed of treatment planning and progress.

Coordinate persons served care with treatment team to ensure comprehensive care.

Assess persons served degree of drug dependency by collecting and analyzing urine drug screen results if applicable.

Attend training sessions to increase knowledge and skills.

Participate in case conferences and staff meetings.

Intervene to resolve emergency problems in crisis situations. Accurately complete incident reports as defined in the incident policy within required time frames and document notification to proper authorities in the event of persons served elopement or other incidents.

Employees and Contractors will conform to CARF standards that are relevant to their positions.

QUALIFICATIONS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE – Master’s Degree or higher. Certification as an Addictions Professional (CAP) preferred.
