Position Summary

Under the direction and supervision of the First Nations Housing and Infrastructure Manager, the Residential Property Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily operations, maintenance, and resident relations within a transitional housing program. This role ensures a safe, supportive, and well-maintained living environment for youth at risk. The Property Manager works closely with case managers, service providers, and program leadership to support housing stability and resident well-being. The Property Manager will work closely with the property management advisor, who will guide and lead in the training and job shadowing in the day-to-day activities in property management.

 

Key Responsibilities

Manage and ensure that the units and common areas are safe and clean. Ensure compliance with health, safety and building codes.

Coordinate repairs, inspections and preventative maintenance.

Respond to residents’ concerns, complaints and service requests and provide these to the supervisor overseeing the project.

Maintain accurate lease agreements and occupancy records.

Communicate notices, arrears and payment plans.

Carry out eviction prevention plans and conduct evictions as a last resort.

Enforce housing programs rules and lease terms and conditions.

Ensure adherence to program policies, funding requirements, and housing regulations.

Maintain confidential resident files, incident reports, and maintenance logs.

Respond to emergencies and incidents using trauma-informed practices. Implement safety protocols and de-escalation strategies.

Support residents in transitioning to permanent housing. Collaborate with support staff to address behavioural and housing-related issues

Ensure financial and occupancy reports are up to date for program supervisors. Collect rent and program fees; manage petty cash and housing stipends.

Track property-related expenses and assist with budget planning.

Participate in on-site team meetings and contribute to program improvements.

Other duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications

Education & Experience

High school diploma or equivalent required; post-secondary education in property management, social services, non-profit management and/or services, or related field preferred.

Minimum Two (2) years of experience in property management, preferably in supportive or transitional housing.

Knowledge of housing regulations, landlord-tenant laws, and Residential Tenancies Branch processes.

Understand trauma-informed care.

Strong interpersonal, organizational, and conflict resolution skills.

Ability to work independently in determining work methods or priorities.

Excellent written and communication skills.

Excellent organizational and planning skills.

Proven ability to work cooperatively and effectively with First Nation stakeholders.

Proficiency in property management software and Microsoft Office Suite.

Valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle may be required.

Additional Requirements

Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and knowledge of social media platforms.

Ability to work flexible hours, as required.

Ability to travel as needed.

Must have a valid Class 5 driver’s license and reliable transportation.

Must provide a satisfactory Criminal Record Check with vulnerable sector search upon hire.
