Job Summary
Under general supervision, performs work of considerable difficulty in the appraisal of real property and/or business personal property for ad valorem tax assessment purposes, and performs related duties as required. Must obtain and maintain an acceptable level of knowledge of the principles and practices of real estate appraisal; District appraisal and operating procedures; the Texas Property Tax Code; and other applicable laws affecting the appraisal of property for ad valorem taxation. Responsible for performing all field and office appraisal duties for the Appraisal Division, ensuring that all appraisals are conducted in a fair, equal, and impartial manner while providing exceptional customer service. Out-of-town travel is required to attend workshops, educational classes, and/or conferences.
Duties and Responsibilities
Perform appraisal work involving real property and/or commercial real and business personal property for ad valorem tax assessment purposes; perform related duties as required.
Conduct field inspections and office-based appraisal activities; occasional outdoor work is required.
Become familiar with all functions of the Appraisal District and applicable provisions of the Texas Property Tax Code.
Assist appraisal staff with all aspects of valuation, including data collection, documentation, sketching, planning, assignments, and reporting.
Become proficient in the use of all District software systems and programs.
Perform data entry and apply statistical and mathematical functions related to appraisal activities.
Establish, maintain, and update accurate and complete appraisal records.
Perform public relations and customer service duties with property owners and the general public.
Attend and successfully complete required educational courses and participate in cross-training as assigned.
Demonstrate professionalism, good conduct, teamwork, reliability, and a high level of attendance.
Work overtime as required and perform other duties as assigned.
Maintain excellent customer service skills when interacting with property owners, employees, supervisors, and directors.
Maintain open, effective, and professional communication with employees, supervisors, and directors.
Maintain high level of confidentiality

Education
High School Diploma or equivalent (GED) required.
Bachelor’s degree in Business or a related field preferred.
Experience
Excellent typing and computer skills required.
Proficiency with Windows operating systems and Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
Good Math Skills
Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred, but not required.
Must be flexible, self-motivated, well-organized, and a team player.
Must be able to meet travel and overtime requirements.
