Job Description

The Residence Supervisor for Hope House on Crotona Park (HHCP) is responsible for the direct supervision and support of floor counselors and for ensuring the delivery of high-quality, trauma-informed, and recovery-oriented residential services to justice-involved individuals living with Serious Mental Illness (SMI) and charged with felony-level crimes.

The Residence Supervisor reports directly to the Program Director and plays a critical role in maintaining a safe, therapeutic, and structured residential environment consistent with the modified therapeutic community model of Hope House. The Residence Supervisor ensures that all residential services are delivered in accordance with the client’s treatment plan, HHCP policies and procedures, and the conditions of the Court-approved plea agreement.

The Residence Supervisor is a licensed clinician (LCSW, LMHC, or equivalent qualified mental health professional) with supervisory experience who provides clinical guidance and leadership to the residential team. This includes supporting staff in identifying, documenting, and responding to client symptomology, conducting risk assessments and crisis interventions, and assuming direct clinical roles when necessary.

Responsibilities:
• Provide weekly supervision to floor counselors to ensure consistent application of trauma-informed, recovery-oriented, and evidence-based practices.

• Maintain a working knowledge of each resident’s DSM-V diagnosis, clinical history, and individualized service plan.

• Assist staff in identifying and monitoring observable manifestations of client symptomology and support the development of appropriate intervention strategies.

• Conduct and document risk assessments, including suicide risk and behavioral crisis evaluations, and lead or coordinate crisis interventions when necessary.

• Collaborate closely with the Program Director and clinical treatment staff to ensure coordinated, integrated care across residential and clinical services.

• Participate in interdisciplinary treatment team meetings, providing updates on resident progress, behavioral observations, and risk management concerns.

• Ensure that all required documentation, including progress notes, incident reports, and supervision records, is completed accurately and in compliance with OMH Part 595 and agency standards.

• Support the ongoing professional development of residential staff through training, modeling, and feedback.

• Monitor resident adherence to the daily structure of the Hope House program and reinforce accountability within the therapeutic community model.

• Serve as on-site clinical lead during assigned shifts, including evenings or weekends as scheduled, to provide leadership and ensure resident and staff safety.

• Assist in the implementation of new policies, procedures, and quality improvement initiatives as directed by the Program Director.

• Participate in resident admissions, discharges, and transfers to ensure continuity and quality of care.

• Provide direct clinical and administrative supervision to residential staff.

• Maintain a visible and supportive presence on the residential floors.

• Ensure compliance with all Hope House, OMH, and regulatory standards.

• Demonstrate reliability, regular attendance, and dependability.

• Uphold the mission and values of the Greenburger Center for Social and Criminal Justice, Inc., and the Hope House program.

Qualifications:
• Must be a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), or equivalent qualified mental health professional as determined by the Greenburger Center and Executive Staff.

• Must have at least three years of related experience in residential or MICA (Mentally Ill Chemically Addicted) programs, preferably within a Therapeutic Community model, and experience working with individuals diagnosed with Serious Mental Illness as defined in the DSM.

• Must have a minimum of two years of supervisory experience, including providing clinical and administrative oversight to direct care staff.

• Must be proficient in risk assessment, crisis intervention, and behavioral observation of clients with complex mental health and co-occurring disorders.

• Must possess strong leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to model professionalism, empathy, and accountability.

• Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills, strong organizational abilities, and proficiency in electronic documentation systems.

• Must be a self-starter capable of managing routine and crisis situations with sound clinical judgment and discretion.

• Must be available to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, as program needs require.
