To strengthen our R&D team, we are looking for a Cell Culture & Formulation Technician who will play a key role in the development and validation of cell-based assays and combination products.
In this role, you will contribute to the set-up, execution, and validation of cell culture–based assays, while also supporting formulation development that integrates biomaterials with biological components.
You will work within established quality and regulatory frameworks and collaborate closely with scientists, quality specialists, and cross-functional teams to ensure assays and formulations are robust, reproducible, and suitable for regulated development.
Key Responsibilities
Cell Culture Assays
You will be responsible for executing and supporting the development of robust and reproducible cell culture–based assays.
Your responsibilities include:
Setting up, executing, and supporting the validation of cell culture assays, assessing parameters such as accuracy, precision, robustness, and reproducibility
Performing routine and advanced cell culture activities, including: cell thawing, expansion and passaging and cryopreservation
Maintaining and monitoring cell cultures by evaluating:
cell viability, morphology, growth characteristics, functional assay readouts
Conducting assay qualification studies, such as:
intra- and inter-assay variability, operator variability, stability of assay conditions
Supporting the development and optimization of cell-based potency, compatibility, or functionality assays
Analyzing experimental data according to approved protocols and ensuring complete, accurate, and traceable documentation
Monitoring and maintaining cell culture equipment and facilities, including incubators, biosafety cabinets, and analytical tools
Formulation & Combination Product Development
In addition to cell culture work, you will support the development of formulations that combine biomaterials with biologically active components.
Key activities include:
Performing formulation activities combining biomaterials with components such as: cells, proteins, growth factors, other bioactive agents
Preparing and handling cell–biomaterial constructs according to defined process parameters and quality requirements
Executing studies to evaluate formulation compatibility, stability, and functional performance in relation to cell-based assays
Supporting process optimization, scale-up, and technology transfer from development to later-stage activities
Coordinating sample preparation, storage, and shipment for internal and external testing while ensuring full documentation and traceability
Quality & Regulatory Compliance
Working within a regulated development environment, you will contribute to maintaining high quality and compliance standards.
Your responsibilities include:
Performing activities in accordance with applicable quality systems and regulatory frameworks (e.g., ISO 13485, GLP, and GMP principles where applicable)
Drafting, reviewing, and maintaining: SOPs, protocols, test methods, batch or assay records
Supporting the preparation of technical documentation for regulatory submissions related to cell-based or combination medical devices (Class II and III)
Contributing to deviation management, CAPA processes, change control, and continuous improvement initiatives
Safety & Organizational Responsibilities
Safety and data integrity are essential in this role.
You will:
Adhere strictly to biosafety, chemical safety, and waste management procedures
Work according to aseptic techniques within controlled laboratory environments
Train and mentor colleagues, students, and interns in validated assay execution and documentation practices
Ensure data integrity, traceability, and reproducibility in line with GLP and internal quality standards
