Pender is seeking current 4th year students and New Graduates that are looking to put their studies into action. You’ll join us as a Research Associate (Rotational) and over a two-year period you will have a unique opportunity to develop skills, provide new insights, collaborate with cross-functional teams and learn from experienced professionals from four different investment disciplines: Pender Ventures, Equity, Fixed Income and Liquid Alternatives.
Start Date: June 2027
General Responsibilities will include:
Research fundamental aspects of businesses we own or are evaluating for potential investment
Preparing industry research reports and investment models
Applying qualitative analysis to support investment decisions
Participating in team meetings where investment ideas, insights and topics are discussed
Participating in operational activities
Deal flow screening & due diligence assistance (Pender Ventures)
Core Competencies:
Self-starting attitude; motivated and hardworking with the ability to prioritize, multitask and work within time constraints
Curiosity about how businesses work; resourceful and enjoy applying critical thinking
Focus on details; complete tasks thoroughly and accurately
Some knowledge of credit markets, debt and lending
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Coachable: willing and able to learn from feedback
The successful candidate must have:
Strong interest in investment management
Undergraduate degree in a relevant field of study
Excellent proficiency with MS Office and some familiarity with the Bloomberg terminal
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
A strong work ethic
Basic understanding of financial statements, and knowledge of factors that contribute to credit risk

We are sharing that the estimated salary range for this position is $65,000 - $75,000 per year. In determining final salary, Pender considers many factors including the candidate’s qualifications, relevant experience, job responsibilities, market conditions, position location and internal equity. Our aim is to ensure fair compensation practices that align with industry standards while acknowledging the unique value and expertise each individual brings to the role. The final base salary for the offer will be presented as part of a competitive compensation package.
