General information:
The Chair of Empirical Corporate Finance (Prof. Dr. Christian Andres) at WHU – Otto Beisheim School of Management in Vallendar conducts research on corporate decisions and their effects on capital markets, investors, and institutions. The focus is on mergers & acquisitions, corporate governance, financial analysts, and payout policy. Our research analyzes how markets, regulation, and corporate strategies interact. WHU offers an internationally oriented environment, an excellent research infrastructure, and a vibrant doctoral program.
Your mission:
• Conduct independent empirical research in corporate finance with the aim of presenting results at international conferences and publishing in leading academic journals.
• Support in the delivery of finance lectures (no tutorials required).
• Active participation in WHU’s structured doctoral program.
Your profile:
• Outstanding Master’s degree in Finance, Economics, Business, or a related field.
• Strong mathematical and analytical skills; programming experience (e.g., R, Python, Stata) is an advantage.
• Strong interest in empirical capital market research, particularly in M&A, corporate governance, and financial analysts.
• Excellent command of English (both written and spoken); German is not required.
• Enthusiasm for academic research in an international environment.
