Research Assistant 2 position in the Stem Cell Bioprocess Laboratory under the supervision of Prof. Hoesli. The central project is to adapt stem cell culture protocols to clinical-grade production by replacing animal-derived products, drafting and revising standard operating procedures and testing procedures in a technology transfer center in a clean room setting. The Research Assistant will assist laboratory members in improving laboratory and documentation practices, as well as performing stem cell culture, differentiation and characterization studies.
Responsibilities:
• Write and revise standard operating procedures.
• Assist with the purchasing, procurement, installation and maintenance of specialized equipment and materials.
• Prepare batch records.
• Review and update inventories including cell, protein or PCR primer banks.
• Assist with managing and securely storing project data and datasets.
• Analyze and interpret research data, ensuring quality and reliability.
• Perform specific laboratory work or technical tasks relevant to the field, such as cell culture.
• Contribute to the development and improvement of research methods and systems.
• Assist with laboratory equipment maintenance.
• Actively participate in research meetings and prepare reports.
• Assist with the submission of abstracts and manuscripts.
• Provide technical guidance and training to other team members, including students.
• Communicate clearly and in a timely manner with various stakeholders
Qualifications:
• Experience with Animal Cell culture and encapsulation.
• Master's Degree in Chemical Engineering or relevant discipline.
Other Qualifying Skills:
Knowledge of French and English: McGill University is an English-language university where day to day duties may require English communication both verbally and in writing. The level of English required for this position has been assessed at a level #3
