Hiring Unit:
Department of Atmospheric and Oceanic Sciences
Position summary:
• Conduct organized research focused on active and passive remote sensing of clouds and precipitation systems with minimal supervision.
• Contribute to the writing of technical reports and collaborate on the conceptual design and writing of scientific articles.
• Utilize ground-based and space-based observational data for research activities.
Qualifying Skills:
• Experienced in applying machine learning and data science tools (TensorFlow, PyTorch, pandas, NumPy, Scikit‑learn) to analyze and model complex atmospheric and environmental datasets.
• Proficient in multi-language scientific and technical programming, including Python, C++, Java, Embedded C, LaTeX, and Swift, for developing algorithms, simulations, and research workflows.
• Skilled in research methodology, including modeling & simulation, quantitative data analysis, and producing clear, high‑quality technical and scientific documentation.
Experience and education:
• Master's degree in atmospheric sciences or a relevant discipline (including computer science).
• Experience with remote sensing techniques and data, atmospheric physics.
