Overview 

  

The Reconstruct research assistant will conduct research and support communications as part of an interdisciplinary team working on the Reconstruct initiative under the supervision of Professor Jemtrud in Architecture, Energy and Environment. The research is funded by an NSERC/Alliance grant (2022-2027), with several industry, community, government and academic partners and collaborators in Quebec, Canada and abroad.    

Responsibilities 

The research assistant will assist in the following tasks:

• Conduct research, writing and production of graphics to contribute to materials for external dissemination and support development of funding applications as needed. 

• Support relationships and activities with collaborating stakeholders from Quebec and across Canada who wish to contribute to accelerating the mass deployment of DERs (deep energy retrofits).  

• Update and maintain Professor Jemtrud's website with assistance from student research assistants. 

• Support other communications and research activities within the Reconstruct team, as needed. 

Education 

Bachelor’s degree in architecture, or related with relevant experience 

 

Qualifications 

• 2 years of related experience 

• Experience in public speaking, public engagement and document preparation for both large and small audiences 

• Experience in AEC (architecture, engineering and construction industry) stakeholder engagement and familiarity with key stakeholders and topics pertaining to the DER, off-site construction and social housing spheres in Quebec and Canada 

• Experience developing communication strategies (including event planning and logistics coordination) and maintaining public communication platforms (including websites)  

• Experience in conducting literature reviews, design charettes and stakeholder meetings for research purposes 

• Strong communication and written skills including fluency in both French and English. Fluent use of Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, and the Microsoft Office Suite. 

• Ability to interpret and create architectural drawings in accordance with professional standards and conventions using architectural software (Rhino, VRay, Grasshopper, Revit, Cadwork) is an asset 

• Given the applied nature of this research project, work experience in the construction industry is an asset 

  

Work will be done in hybrid mode (remote and in-person). The number of hours will be 25 hours per week (fixed).
