About the Role
OpenEd is seeking seasonal UT RISE Testing Proctors to support the administration of Utah state assessments in partnership with a collaborating organization.
This role involves in-person supervision of student testing sessions while working alongside another proctor at the same location. Each proctor will oversee their own group of students while administering the UT RISE assessment using virtual proctoring tools and established testing protocols.
This opportunity is ideal for professionals who are detail-oriented, reliable, and comfortable working with students in a structured testing environment.
UT RISE Testing Window
March 30 – May 15
(No testing April 6–10)
Testing typically occurs between 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM MT, with most sessions lasting approximately two hours.
Employment Structure
This role is employed through our staffing partner, Kelly Services. While your day-to-day work will support OpenEd’s testing programs and you will collaborate closely with our team, Kelly Services serves as the employer of record for payroll, onboarding, and employment administration.
Key Responsibilities
Proctors will:
Supervise students during UT RISE testing sessions
Follow strict testing scripts and state assessment protocols
Maintain a calm, professional, and secure testing environment
Ensure testing procedures are implemented consistently and accurately
Monitor student participation and engagement during testing
Support accurate documentation and session reporting
Collaborate with another proctor onsite while supervising separate student groups
Role Requirements (All Candidates)
Complete required training and certification prior to participation
Follow all testing scripts and assessment protocols exactly as written
Communicate clearly and professionally with students and families
Support accurate and timely testing documentation
Maintain a quiet, professional testing environment
Comfort using basic technology and virtual testing tools
Ability to work cooperatively with another proctor at the same testing site

Team & Autonomy
This is a seasonal contractor role with independent work supported by a dedicated Team Lead who will coordinate training, schedules, and test certification.
While the role is seasonal, many contractors are invited back for additional testing opportunities throughout the year. Between testing windows, contractors may receive updates about future training and upcoming assessment events.
Reporting Line
This role reports to the Proctor Operations Lead.
