Job Description
Essential Functions:
1. Greets patients, answers the telephone, takes messages, relays message, and directs communication to appropriate person in the appropriate manner.
2. Responsible for accurate and timely registration for all Rehabilitation Outpatients, Dietetics Outpatients, and DME customers.
3. Responsible for knowledge of and obtaining all pre-certification and ongoing certification information prior to and during the care process. This information will be obtained from Dr.'s Offices and/or other referral sources for all outpatient registrations and DME purchases.
4. Responsible for scheduling all new referrals and patient follow-up visits.
5. Maintains permanent medical records for each patient referred to therapy. Files necessary documentation in the patient chart and ensures that each patient record contains all necessary information prior to closing the chart.
6. Scans Medical Record per protocol during the admission process and after the patient is discharged from outpatient services.
7. Handles incoming and outgoing correspondence relating to patient records, third party payers, and Physicians.
8. Provides information to billing/coding personnel to complete filing as requested.
9. Gathers statistical data and reports to the Director of Rehabilitation as requested.
10. Monitors safety data and reports to the Director of Rehabilitation as requested.
11. Responsible for contributing to customer relations by providing excellent customer service with immediate assistance for a prompt and friendly admission or scheduling process, contributing positively to patient satisfaction.
12. Serves fellow employees with courtesy and respect.
13. Responsible for retaining and performing any routine changes in the Registration process, keeping abreast of any insurance updates or requirements and attending seminars as requested.
14. Responsible for demonstrating knowledge of departmental responsibilities during emergent alarms, knowledge of and location of departmental manuals.
15. Performs other duties as assigned.
Non-Essential Functions:
16. Assists therapists when necessary.
Qualifications:
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Excellent written and verbal communication skills; is patient and pleasant, cooperative and courteous; possesses good judgment.
Education:
Has the ability to accurately read and write and compute simple statistics and manage simple bookkeeping. Also has basic knowledge of personal computers
Experience:
None required. Understanding of hospital function and therapy procedures is helpful.
Certification/Licensure:
None.
Code Blue Training:
A minimum training level of BLS is required.
Physical Demands:
Requires full range of body motion. Frequent sitting, standing and bending are required. Frequent walking and occasional
lifting up to 75 pounds. Frequent carrying up to 20 pounds. Requires corrected hearing and vision to normal range.
Exposure to communicable diseases, body fluids, hazardous materials may occur. Requires occasional pushing and pulling
of objects up to 60 pounds of force. Requires the ability to distinguish letter or symbols. Requires the ability to use
office equipment such as telephone, copiers, and computers.
Working Conditions:
Must be able to work normal business hours Monday through Friday. Occasionally required to work overtime. Must comply
with uniform requirements.
