The Opportunity
Join our senior leadership team as Regulatory Counsel in a rapidly expanding fintech environment. You will lead the regulatory compliance function, overseeing license application and management across Hong Kong and international jurisdictions, managing external regulatory inquiries, and driving the development of robust compliance policies in partnership with the Compliance team. Reporting directly to the Head of Legal, you’ll play a pivotal role in navigating complex regulatory landscapes, mitigating risks, and supporting RedotPay’s ambitious global growth in the crypto and payments sector within an innovative, high-stakes culture.
What We Are Looking For
We seek an experienced, strategic leader for this senior management role to spearhead regulatory compliance efforts within the Legal Department. Key responsibilities include:
License Application, Management & Maintenance (HK & Abroad): Lead the strategic application, oversight, renewal, and maintenance of licenses for crypto and payment services in Hong Kong and key international markets, including anticipating regulatory shifts, directing the preparation of complex documentation, and ensuring proactive compliance with evolving jurisdictional requirements to support business expansion.
License Localisation & Compliance Programmes: Drive the development, review, and enhancement of compliance programmes to support each license localisation process in close collaboration with the Compliance team, including conducting in-depth regulatory gap analyses, aligning frameworks with global standards, and leading organization-wide implementation to foster a culture of compliance excellence.
External Regulatory RFI: Oversee responses to requests for information from external entities such as regulators, private investigators, or other authorities, including strategizing internal coordination, reviewing and approving drafted responses, and guaranteeing timely, precise, and confidential submissions that uphold the highest compliance standards.
What You Need
To succeed in this senior role, candidates must demonstrate exceptional expertise and leadership, meeting the following rigorous qualifications:
Education: Qualified lawyer with full admission to practice law in Hong Kong, the United Kingdom, the United States, or another Tier-1 jurisdiction (e.g., Singapore, Australia, or Canada), holding an LLB or equivalent legal degree from a top-tier university.
Experience: At least 5-8 years of progressive experience in regulatory compliance, in-house counsel, or similar roles within the financial services, payments, crypto, or fintech sectors. Must have substantial hands-on experience in license management (including applications, renewals, and audits) and direct communications with regulators, with a proven track record of navigating multi-jurisdictional challenges in high-growth environments.
Skills: Demonstrated leadership in managing teams and cross-functional collaborations, with superior strategic thinking, risk assessment, and problem-solving abilities. Exceptional research, analytical, drafting, and communication skills are required, including expertise in policy development, regulatory interpretation, and high-pressure decision-making.
