Purpose
The Regulatory & Compliance Specialist will support the work of Anglo American Sales & Trading Legal & Compliance team, and be responsible for legal, regulatory and compliance risk assessment, analysis and advice and play a key role in the delivery of a risk-based compliance programme across the Sales & Trading global business.  
Key Responsibilities
Support the success of Anglo American and its Marketing business by
• Carrying out legal research and summarising findings for a range of stakeholders to support regulatory queries in relation to new country entry, new product approvals, business registrations and compliance risks such as bribery and corruption, money laundering and terrorist financing, sanctions and trade controls, antitrust and data privacy.
• Supporting the Regulatory & Compliance Manager to maintain a risk-based compliance framework to effectively manage the following risks within the Marketing business:• Bribery and corruption
• Anti-trust
• AML/CTF
• Data protection
• Fraud
• Sanctions and trade controls
• Conducting risk assessments and proactively engaging with key commercial and functional stakeholders to understand their emerging commercial goals
• Proactively identifying emerging compliance requirements and planning and executing gap mitigation
• Developing and monitoring of risk-based controls and performing independent, risk-based testing to ensure controls operate effectively.
• Supporting the KYC process as required by promptly and effectively responding to escalations and identifying robust mitigation strategies where appliable.
• Managing internal relationships and  delivering risk-based, pragmatic and timely advice. Where required, participate in briefings of management and other stakeholders. 
• Support to build robust compliance culture in the office.
• Responsible for legal filings and documents to ensure external regulatory obligations are met on time and in full.
• Prepare and provide training on regulatory topics to Marketing
• Assist in the preparation of management reports on legal and compliance matters, including to Group stakeholders in relation to Marketing’s delivery of the Group Compliance Management Programme.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of the Group and external regulatory environment, regulatory changes and the enforcement landscape, proposing updates to the compliance programme and relevant materials as required.
• Matter management, instructions to external Counsel, file maintenance and billings for the Regulatory & Compliance Manager.

A Legal degree/Paralegal qualification is essential for this role
Experience
• Experience of regulatory risk management in a trading environment
• Experience of legal administration
Knowledge and Skills
• Fluent written and spoken English is a pre-requisite.
• Excellent communication skills orally and in writing
• Strong analytical skills/Strong legal research skills
• Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate across commercial teams, with functional specialists and senior Group stakeholders in Legal & Corporate Affairs, Ethics & Compliance, Investigations and People & Organisation to support delivery of the Group Compliance Management Programme in Marketing
• Strong ability to prioritise and work effectively to meet deadlines
• Self-starter, highly professional and driven to meet high standards of delivery
