Based at our Wageningen and Amsterdam offices (hybrid working), this is a pivotal global role reporting to the Regulatory Affairs Team Lead for Developed Markets (Europe and North America).
You’ll collaborate closely with R&D, Marketing, Corporate Affairs, Legal, Packaging and Procurement teams to ensure our innovation, product and packaging development meet and exceed compliance requirements. You'll also help steer our marketing claims strategy and risk management.
This is an exciting opportunity to apply your regulatory expertise across a diverse range of categories and markets—guiding business-critical decision-making while helping deliver the next generation of delicious, natural, nutritious food.
Your key responsibilities include:
Food Regulatory Compliance (EU)
• Guide Product Developers and Technical Project Leaders from project inception to ensure regulatory compliance for innovative products and claims.
• Shape and implement Flora Food Group’s marketing claims strategy and risk management plans.
• Anticipate, identify and manage regulatory changes across Europe, and drive implementation within the business.
• Train and support the cross-functional teams (R&D/Marketing/SC/Sales) on the regulatory framework, e.g. product & labelling compliance, nutrition & health claims, regulatory processes.
Packaging Regulatory Compliance (EU & North America)
• Ensure compliance of packaging materials with applicable food contact and packaging regulations in the EU and North America, including monitoring mandatory recycling and packaging logos.
• Monitor and interprete packaging regulatory changes across Europe (including Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation - PPWR) and North America, and drive implementation within the business.
• Act as the central point of contact for packaging legislation and specification related aspects, and advising internal and external stakeholders.
Cross‑functional & Strategic Responsibilities
• Liaise with internal teams (Legal, Quality, Packaging, Procurement, etc.) to address regulatory and compliance questions from authorities and customers.
• Translate regulatory requirements into clear, pragmatic guidance for the business, balancing compliance, innovation and speed to market.
• Support continuous improvement of regulatory processes, tools and ways of working.
So, what does it take to be successful in this role?
You are a skilled and influential regulatory expert, capable of navigating complex environments while keeping pace with commercial priorities and innovation pipelines. You hold a Master’s degree (or higher) in Food Technology, Quality, Chemistry, or a related field, and bring over five years of regulatory or technical experience within the food, food ingredient, or packaging manufacturing industry. You have in-depth knowledge of food and packaging regulations across Europe and North America, including ingredients and packaging requirements, and are familiar with systems such as PPWR, PLM, and ERP. You are an excellent stakeholder manager with a strong ability to influence both internal and external partners. You also have practical experience in issues management, advocacy, and regulatory engagement, and approach your work with a proactive, can-do mindset that enables you to respond effectively to time-sensitive business needs. You are fluent in English, and additional languages are considered a plus.
