Position Summary
We are seeking experienced Registered Nurses (RNs) to provide on-site geriatric nursing services for eligible beneficiaries of the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA). RNs will deliver high-quality, patient-centered care consistent with VA standards, national nursing standards, and the Performance Work Statement (PWS).
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Perform comprehensive nursing assessments and ongoing patient evaluations
Develop, implement, and update individualized plans of care
Administer medications, treatments, and therapies per physician orders and VA policy
Monitor patient conditions and promptly report changes to the interdisciplinary care team
Provide direct nursing care in Community Living Centers (long-term care setting)
Accurately document all care in VA electronic medical records
Collaborate with physicians, LPNs, CNAs, and allied health professionals
Adhere to VA policies, infection control standards, and patient safety protocols
Maintain professionalism and comply with VA Medical Staff By-Laws and Rules of Behavior
Qualifications
Required:
Current, unrestricted California Registered Nurse (RN) license
Minimum of two (2) years of recent nursing experience
Graduate of an accredited Registered Nursing program
Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
Ability to speak, read, write, and understand English fluently
No adverse licensure actions or negative clinical indicators
Preferred:
Geriatric, long-term care, or inpatient experience
Experience working in a federal, VA, or hospital-based setting
Schedule & Work Conditions
Multiple shifts available (8-, 10-, or 12-hour shifts)
Facility operates 24/7, including weekends
No on-call requirements
No overtime or holiday pay authorized
Schedules provided 2–4 weeks in advance
