Position Overview:
Greenlife Healthcare Staffing is currently seeking a Registered Nurse (ICU) to fill an opening at a hospital located in New Orleans, LA. This role focuses on providing critical care to patients with life-threatening conditions, utilizing advanced monitoring, life support equipment, and evidence-based interventions in a high-acuity intensive care unit setting.

Key Responsibilities:
• Provide comprehensive nursing care to critically ill patients with conditions such as sepsis, respiratory failure, acute myocardial infarction, stroke, DKA, GI bleed, multi-organ dysfunction, and post-cardiac arrest.
• Perform continuous assessment of hemodynamics, respiratory status, neurologic function (GCS, pupil checks), pain, sedation (RASS), and intake/output.
• Titrate continuous IV infusions (vasopressors, inotropes, antiarrhythmics, sedatives, paralytics) based on physician orders and hemodynamic targets.
• Manage mechanically ventilated patients, including monitoring settings (tidal volume, PEEP, FiO2), suctioning, drawing ABGs, and assisting with extubation or tracheostomy care.
• Interpret cardiac telemetry and 12-lead EKGs, recognizing and responding to life-threatening arrhythmias.
• Perform advanced procedures including sterile dressing changes (central lines, arterial lines, chest tubes, surgical drains), wound care, and insertion of urinary catheters and NG tubes.
• Collaborate with intensivists, respiratory therapists, pharmacists, physical therapists, and dietitians to optimize patient outcomes.
• Coordinate safe patient transport to procedures (CT, MRI, interventional radiology, OR) with portable monitoring and medications.
• Provide end-of-life care, including pain and symptom management, family support, and advance directive discussions.
• Educate patients and families on critical illness, treatment plans, prognosis, and post-ICU care needs.
• Document all assessments, interventions, medication titrations, and patient responses accurately in the EMR in real-time.

Requirements:
Qualifications:
• Education: Completion of an accredited Registered Nurse (RN) program (Associate's or Bachelor's degree).
• Licensure: Active Louisiana state RN license and current BLS Certification.
• Experience: At least one year of relevant experience is required.
• Technical Skills: Proficient in continuous hemodynamic monitoring (arterial lines, CVP, pulmonary artery catheters), ventilator management, titration of vasoactive and sedative IV drips (dopamine, norepinephrine, propofol, fentanyl, midazolam), and management of bedside emergency equipment (defibrillator, crash cart).
• Soft Skills: Exceptional critical thinking and rapid clinical judgment; ability to remain calm during emergencies; meticulous attention to detail; strong communication with multidisciplinary teams and families; compassion for critically ill patients and their loved ones.
