This position is in support of the County of Sarasota Florida to provide care for those with special needs who are displaced in the event of a largescale disaster. This position requires the individual to be able to respond to a disaster with in 24 hours of notice and to establish care with in 72 hours of notification. This is a post disaster mission and will require the individual to be onsite until conclusion of the operation.   
The RN Charge Nurse manages the nursing staff on their shift, oversees the care of the patients, and is responsible for the triage of every citizen entering the shelter for treatment. This role focuses on overall management and care coordination. 
Key Responsibilities:
• Manages nursing staff on shift and ensure they are following protocols. 
• Oversees the appropriate care of patients.  
• Address any issues that may arise.   
• Accounts for staff and citizens in care during shift. 
• Coordinates transfer of patients if required.  
• Assess all citizens upon entry into shelter. 
• Annotates patients’ arrival to shelter. 
• Determines if patient requires higher level of care than that of facility.  
• Provides appropriate medical care within scope. 
• Completes required organizational compliance education, including assigned requirements that are client-specified, for Joint Commission Healthcare Staffing Services certification or other regulatory bodies.

Experience Required: 
• Strong oral and written communication skills.  
• Excellent interpersonal skills.

• Experience with special needs populations (preferred, not required). 
Education Required: 
• Graduate from an associate's or baccalaureate nursing program for Registered Nurses located in a State, the District of Columbia, or a U.S. territory accredited by The Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) or The Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE).   
• Minimum one year of professional experience as a licensed registered nurse in a hospital, medical office or residential setting. 
Required Licenses / Certifications:  
• Current, full and unrestricted license as a Registered Nurse in the state of Florida. 
• Basic Life Support, ACLS (Preferred), PALS (Preferred).  
• Current and valid driver's license.  
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:  
• Understanding of Nursing operations and care in an austere environment.  
• Understanding of “Special Needs” populations (Preferred).  
• Ability to navigate in an electronic work environment including electronic health records, web-based training and communications.  
• Knowledge of, and moderate proficiency in, common Microsoft Office programs, specifically Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and SharePoint.  
• Knowledge of regulations (HIPAA/Privacy Act) regarding the confidentiality of patient medical records and information as well as Personally Identifiable Information (PII). 
• Demonstrate strong organization and time management skills. 
• Demonstrate strong oral and written communication skills. 
• Cultural competency and interpersonal skills. 
Duty Hours / ON-Call Requirements: 
• This an upon notification position.  
• Shifts will be 12 hours a day until complete. 
Physical Demands: 
• Physically capable of performing duties and responsibilities as listed above. 
• Ability to work in an austere environment exposure to heat and weather. 
• Frequent use of common office technology such as the computer, telephone etc.  
• Ability to lift, carry and move up to 30 lbs.  
• Ability to drive a vehicle on behalf of the company. 
Travel / Rotation Requirements: 
• Travel to Sarasota upon notification.

Compensation Disclaimer:
Pay range is based on several factors and may vary in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits. Final salary and offer will be determined by the applicant’s background, experience, skills, internal equity, and alignment with geographical market data.
