Regional Vice President - Michigan

Location Type: Hybrid (Must Reside in Michigan)

Build Your Career with Us!

Upstream Rehabilitation is the country’s largest dedicated provider of outpatient physical and occupational therapy services. Our mission is to inspire and empower the lives we touch, to serve our communities, and to lead with purpose-driven passion.

We are committed to delivering remarkable experiences and fostering an inclusive workplace where differences are valued and celebrated. With 1,200+ locations nationwide, 26 brand partners, and 8,000+ employees, Upstream operates at scale while leveraging data, technology, and innovation to drive smarter decisions and operational excellence across the organization.

The Role:

Join Upstream Rehabilitation and help shape the future of care delivery—where your leadership drives real impact every day. As the Regional Vice President – Michigan, you’ll own the operational, financial, and people performance of a dynamic, multi‑clinic region, translating enterprise strategy into consistent, high‑quality execution at the clinic level.

In this highly visible leadership role, you’ll inspire and guide a talented regional team while overseeing workflows, strengthening operational excellence, and delivering on key financial objectives. You’ll be a hands‑on partner in the business—optimizing processes, solving complex challenges, and using data‑driven insights to achieve measurable results, all while championing ethical and sustainable practices.

If you thrive in environments where strategy meets execution, enjoy developing leaders and teams, and are motivated by making systems work better for the people they serve, this role offers a meaningful opportunity to lead at scale. Your leadership will keep our operations running strong and directly support our mission to inspire and empower the lives we touch.

What You’ll Do:

Lead and elevate clinic performance by translating operational metrics into action: coaching Clinic Directors, reinforcing enterprise standards, and driving consistent, high‑quality execution across the region.

Own regional financial and operational success, proactively monitoring performance, addressing gaps with decisive corrective action, and partnering on budgeting and forecasting to deliver sustainable results.

Develop tomorrow’s leaders by coaching, mentoring, and building strong bench strength among Clinic Directors, ensuring leadership continuity and long‑term regional success.

Create a culture where people thrive by fostering engagement, accountability, and trust, staying closely connected to field teams.

Ensure clinics are positioned to win through proactive workforce planning, partnering with HR to drive hiring and retention strategies while anticipating growth and minimizing operational disruption from vacancies.

Drive regional growth and access to care by partnering cross‑functionally with Sales, Marketing, and Access teams to increase volume, improve conversion, and ensure operational readiness for same‑store and new clinic expansion.

Shape and execute regional growth strategies that strengthen community presence, deepen referral‑partner relationships, and expand market share in existing and emerging markets.

Champion clinical quality and compliance, ensuring care delivery consistently aligns with our care model, regulatory requirements, and risk‑management standards.

Maintain a strong field presence, traveling frequently throughout Michigan and to departmental or functional meetings to stay visible, connected, and impactful.

Lead and contribute to special initiatives and enterprise priorities as needed, bringing a solutions‑oriented, enterprise‑minded approach to every project.

• Other projects and duties as assigned.

Who You Are:

• Graduate of an accredited physical therapy program.

• 5+ years of progressive healthcare or service‑industry operations leadership, with demonstrated success leading complex, multi‑site or regional environments.

• Proven ability to own and drive consistent operational performance, translating established processes, metrics, and standards into sustained results.

• Strong analytical and strategic decision-making skills, with the ability to interpret operational and financial data, prioritize opportunities and implement targeted, scalable solutions.

Deep understanding of clinic‑level financial drivers and key operating levers, with experience managing to budget and driving profitable growth.

Demonstrated success coaching, mentoring, and developing leaders across multiple locations.

Excellent judgment and prioritization skills, with the ability to navigate competing regional and enterprise priorities.

Strong enterprise collaborator with a track record of influencing cross‑functional partners to achieve organizational goals.

Nice to Haves:

• 7-10 years of progressive leadership experience in multi-site healthcare or regional healthcare or service operations, with increasing scope and accountability.

• Prior responsibility for P&L ownership or equivalent financial accountability, including managing to budget and driving growth outcomes.

• Strong data literacy, with demonstrate ability to use performance dashboards and operational metrics to guide decision-making and improve results.

Why You’ll Love Working Here

• The chance to directly shape our organization’s growth by hiring the talent that drives our mission.

• Opportunities to stretch your skills—whether you’re building pipelines, designing sourcing strategies, or advising leadership.

• A collaborative team environment where your ideas are valued.

• Competitive compensation, comprehensive benefits, and ongoing professional development.

Benefit Offerings:

• Annual paid Charity Day to give back to a cause meaningful to you

• 100% employer paid medical health insurance premium option available

• Dental and Vision insurance

• 401(k) with company match

• Generous PTO and paid holidays

• Supportive team and leadership invested in your success
