Regional Study Budget Developer

The Regional Study Budget Developer is accountable for developing and managing the Country and Site level Study Budgets for assigned regions/countries. The Regional Budget Developer will work collaboratively with the Global Study Budget Developer to confirm the requirements for assigned region and to coordinate any necessary updates to budgets for the duration of the Study.
 

A crucial aspect of this position is to ensure all study costings adhere to Fair Market Value standards promoting ethical, fair, and compliant practices within defined regulatory environment and company SOPs. This role will be accountable for multiple Countries/Regions and will provide expertise to the wider team.

Accountabilities for this role include:

• Adapt Global study budgets into Country budgets in compliance with company policies and industry regulations/guidelines in assigned regions/countries.
• Assign CPT codes for all study activities using the FMV tool.
• Identify general site costs and other invoiceable items that should be included in the country budget.
• Oversee and coordinate site budget escalations.
• Monitor and analyze industry trends.
• Provide expert guidance and technical support during budget development. Assess protocol amendments and determine when budget updates are needed. Stay informed about assigned therapeutic areas and key studies.
• Ensure compliance with AstraZeneca’s Code of Conduct and all relevant policies. Work with the Global Budget Developer to finalize country budget templates.
• Track budget progress and maintain accurate documentation of country‑ and site‑specific costs, justifications, issues, and amendments.
• Train and mentor new team members in budget development.
• Support process improvements, knowledge sharing, and best‑practice adoption across teams.
• Assist with internal and external audit activities.

Education, Qualifications, Skills and Experience

Essential

• Bachelor’s degree in related discipline, preferably in life science, finance, or related field.
• 2-4 years of experience in clinical study budget development or related roles within the pharmaceutical industry.
• Strong understanding of clinical operations (including study design and awareness of specific site costs associated with clinical studies).
• Knowledge of compliance requirements and industry regulations guidelines in assigned regions/countries.
• Familiarity with international guidelines ICH-GCP; basic knowledge of GMP/GDP.
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex protocols.
• Ability to collaborate effectively in a remote environment with various internal stakeholders.
• Detail-oriented with excellent time-management skills, capable of managing multiple tasks with conflicting deadlines.
• Flexibility to adapt to changes in study design, protocol amendments, and unexpected challenges which may arise.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
• Experience with FMV tool(s).
