The Defense segment within our Aramids business is an exciting business focused on personal protection for military and law enforcement personnel by providing innovative materials used in soft body armor, hard body armor (helmets & plates) and vehicle armoring. The needs and expectations of personal protective equipment for military and law enforcement personnel continues to change to increase comfort while improving protection and performance of the wearer. We have great brands used to promote our innovative products including Kevlar®, Tensylon® and our latest innovation Kevlar® EXO™. Kevlar® EXO™ is a next generation aramid fiber technology launched in 2023 and is the cornerstone of our growth in Kevlar®. The Defense segment is a growth segment with the expectation of investment in key initiatives for sustainable growth across all product lines but a specific focus on using Kevlar® EXO™ in new products and applications to solve the most difficult challenging is the protection and performance of military and law enforcement personnel.
Role Summary
The Regional Market Leader – Defense is responsible for leading the regional cross-functional business team to ensure collective achievement and execution of financial objectives and innovation-led growth programs. The RML is accountable for segment regional revenue and gross contribution performance and for delivery of the region’s integrated business planning inputs. The RML is the local champion of Strategic Marketing functional competencies. The RML will develop a deep understanding of regional market trends, needs-based customer segmentation, value chain analysis, 4P’s of marketing, and competitive landscape dynamics needed to underscore 5-year strategy and execution plans to continually reinforce segment leadership in existing markets and drive profitable growth in emerging market verticals. The RML is expected to personally demonstrate and cultivate within the region’s cross-functional segment team, a strong external focus that proactively develops close working relationships with customers and partners.
Key Responsibilities
· Develop and implement critical priorities and execution plans that drive regional sales and profitability growth that are aligned with global strategies.
· Drive regional sales planning and forecasting, while monitoring performance to adjust tactics and targets as necessary.
· Manage active sales pipeline at end user level to have clarity on how to drive both short- and long-term growth.
· Develop marketing strategies and execution plans for pricing, route to market, aligned with global strategies, offering optimization, brand promotion / licensing, and partnership with key value chain players and end customers according to needs-based segmentation.
· Collaborate with regional sales and technology leadership to ensure resources are effectively prioritized and aligned with segment objectives.
· Evaluate customer needs and preferences to identify market trends and forecast demand.
· Drive execution of the innovation portfolio and own resulting regional growth performance.
· Leverage industry knowledge and market research to identify opportunities for regional expansion.
· Analyze competitor activities and market trends to ensure Aramids stays aware of the evolving landscape.
· Build and maintain productive business relationships with key clients and stakeholders, including a multi-level customer contact strategy for top accounts
Qualifications & Skills
· Experience in ballistics and/or the Defense market is preferred
· Bachelor’s degree in science, Engineering, or Business.
· Demonstrated cross-functional leadership capability
· Proven ability to drive execution through a cross-functional team
· Demonstrated effective interpersonal and communication skills.
· Strong Microsoft 360 skills
· Strong customer-centric mindset and ability to develop tailored solutions.
· Excellent written and oral English.
· Medium travel (25-40%)
