Reporting to the Operations Director, Lanes Group are recruiting for a Regional Manager for the North London region who will be directly responsible for leading and developing an Operations Manager (who in turn leads a team of Field Managers, Technical Specialists and Waste Network Engineers) and overseeing the region, in order to deliver a high level of customer service excellence and operational performance across our client’s Wastewater Network.

Location: Beckton Sewage Treatment Works, North London Region (Ilford, East London)

Job Type: permanent, full time

Hours: Monday to Friday, 37.5 hours; taking part in the on-call rota

Salary: Competitive subject to experience

About the role:

Due to continued growth and development, we are now looking for customer focused people to join us in our Utility Division, working on our Thames Water contract service to deliver real and effective solutions to waste-water network and drainage problems.

This is a highly professional role that involves a great deal of skill and knowledge to manage people in a high-paced operational environment.

Engage with clients on a weekly, if not daily, basis, utilising high-level stakeholder management.

Build strong working relationships to help deliver key ODI’s/KPI’s the business model requires in line with the budgets set, promoting contractor engagement and taking accountability.

Support the company to achieve its goals and objectives by region and the wider wastewater network.

Collaborate with other Regional Managers to ensure all key ODI’s/KPI’s are met.

Guide your team of Field Managers and Operations Manager to drive and manage performance of Engineers and Technical Specialists to effectively deliver practical and efficient solutions to attain the highest levels of customer satisfaction.

Liaise with the HR team to help motivate and manage HR and Wellbeing related issues.

Conduct and oversee investigations, disciplinaries, grievances and appeals adhering to company policy.

Endorse a culture of engagement and motivation within the team and promote Lanes Group’s values: Innovation, Integrity and Collaboration.

Implement and enforce policies, procedures and Lanes Group standards across the region.

Assist with recruitment efforts, by assessing each prospective staff and assigning them in the best possible locations and work to improve productivity, customer relations and service, and surpassing regional goals by coordinating, mentoring, and motivating operational staff.

Drive and promote a culture of safety, excellence and compliance.

Undertake site visits and audits to assess the conditions and recommend changes, working alongside the Health & Safety team to ensure the correct procedures are followed and meet government regulations and environmental, health and security standards.

Encourage continuous improvement in line with H&S legislation and budgets, liaising with the Health, Safety & Wellbeing team to ensure the work environment complies with regulations set by the government regarding environmental, health and safety criteria.

Inspire a team of operatives via a strong leadership style and customer service skills.

Taking accountability and responsibility in this high-profile operational position for the performance of the team across a large geographical area.

Cross functional working with all support functions within Lanes Group on a regular basis.

Any other reasonable ad hoc duties when requested by the Senior Leadership Team.

About you:

The ideal candidate will have the following skills / experience:

Must have a Full UK Driver's Licence

Strong managerial experience in an operational environment

Leadership and strong interpersonal, relationship-building and networking skills

Strategic thinking and stakeholder management

Change management along with being resilient, flexible and adaptable 

Confidentiality is important within this position and we are looking for someone with experience of working with sensitive information

Prioritise your workload and being organised is crucial as this is a fast paced position

Have the ability to deal with people at different levels

Proficient within the Microsoft Office Suite

Although it is not essential it would be desirable if the successful candidate has one of the following:

a Bachelor's Degree in Business Management / Administration, Operations Management

a Certified Business Operations Professional (CBOP) qualification 

a Certified Operations Manager (COM) qualification

or a similar relevant qualification

Previous experience in the drainage industry or utilities industry is beneficial
