Role Overview
The Regional Head – Sales & Business Development will lead and drive sales growth, market expansion, and strategic business development across the assigned region. This role carries end-to-end responsibility for revenue, profitability, customer relationships, and new product commercialization, with a strong focus on Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients (APIs).
The position requires deep knowledge of pharmaceutical value chains, regulatory and patent landscapes, and close collaboration with R&D and manufacturing to ensure successful market entry and sustained growth.

Key Responsibilities
Strategic Sales Leadership
• Develop and execute the annual sales strategy and budget aligned with organizational goals
• Drive regional revenue growth, profitability, and market share
• Monitor performance metrics and ensure consistent achievement of targets
Business Development & Market Expansion
• Identify and develop new business opportunities across existing and prospective customers
• Evaluate product pipelines and assess market demand for new API launches
• Lead market entry strategies for new therapeutic segments and geographies
Key Account & Customer Management
• Build and maintain long-term relationships with senior-level clients
• Strengthen customer retention and expand share of wallet across strategic accounts
• Lead high-level commercial negotiations and partnership discussions
Market Intelligence & Product Strategy
• Analyze IMS data, competitive pricing, regulatory frameworks, and patent landscapes
• Identify unmet market needs and drive new product introductions
• Support pricing, positioning, and lifecycle management strategies
Cross-Functional Collaboration
• Partner with R&D and manufacturing teams to align product development with market needs
• Support technology transfers, scale-up, and commercial launches
• Ensure seamless coordination across functions for timely execution
Leadership & Team Development
• Mentor and develop sales and business development teams
• Foster a high-performance, customer-centric culture
• Provide strategic guidance and capability development across the region
Candidate Profile
Experience & Expertise
• Minimum 15 years of experience in Sales & Business Development within API / Pharmaceutical manufacturing
• Strong understanding of API market dynamics, CNS therapeutic segments, and global pharma customers
• Proven track record in new product commercialization and market penetration
• Exposure to regulatory and patent environments across assigned territories
Skills & Competencies
• Strong strategic, analytical, and problem-solving capabilities
• Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills
• Ability to manage senior-level customer relationships
• High adaptability with extensive regional and international travel
Education
• Degree in Chemical Engineering or Pharmaceutical Sciences
• MBA in Marketing preferred
