ROLE DESCRIPTION
Role Purpose
Responsible for the profitable and efficient management of inland field services, including installations, maintenance, audits, and collaboration with the warehousing function. The manager will contribute to the development and implementation of operational strategies and processes.
This position is based in Johannesburg, with control over the Johannesburg, Bloemfontein, Polokwane, and Nelspruit regions.
Key Responsibilities
Responsibilities for this role are prioritized below to ensure service excellence and operational efficiency.
Operational Management
Manage Field Services teams, by driving on-time delivery of high-quality field services.
Improve operational efficiency and profitability through thorough task planning and management.
Ensure presence at the warehouse in the mornings and afternoons for seamless stock handover, correct vehicle loading, and timely departure before 8 am.
Handle daily/weekly administrative tasks such as vehicle checks, tool checks, EDMA timesheets/overtime, field team annual leave approvals, and purchase of tools/consumables.
Appoint and manage all Tradereach staff and sub-contractors (agents).
Actively monitor the Operations Fleet Tracker, analyzing variances between planned and actual execution.
Quality Assurance & Compliance
Accept accountability for the quality of work delivered by all team members.
Ensure regular field visits are conducted to monitor quality and understand areas of focus in the drive for service excellence. Identify areas where team members are lacking in skills and require training.
Conduct in-field and post-execution QC assessments to monitor quality, performance, and gather feedback from store managers.
Ensure all company processes and procedures are implemented, including Health & Safety, incident reporting, and IOD documentation.
Leadership & HR
Manage staff, including recruitment and other HR related matters such as disciplinary actions.
Work closely with field teams in respect of in-field and post execution assessments, motivating and mentoring.
Manage the on-boarding and training process of both Tradereach field teams and agents.
Perform performance and skills assessments, mentorship, and adopt a hands-on approach to drive motivation and service excellence.
Strategy & Financials
Implement agreed business policies, processes, and procedures.
Control all expenses versus agreed budgets.
Conduct performance measurement & reporting.
Manage the fleet of Tradereach vehicles, in collaboration with the National Fleet Manager, in terms of servicing, tyre changes and any other vehicle requirements.
Continually review areas of accountability to introduce and implement value-added strategies.
Enhance the performance of the regional office, resulting in greater client and staff satisfaction.
Required Skills & Qualifications
Qualifications & Experience
A Degree / Diploma / National Certification equivalent is required.
A minimum of 5 years of management experiences necessary.

Proven hands-on experience in a trade environment, such as shopfitting, carpentry, electrical, mechanical, or a related practical trade, or direct experience working extensively alongside tradesmen in a similar field-based role.
Strong practical and technical aptitude, with the ability to confidently assemble, install, and troubleshoot physical structures, fixtures, or display units within a retail or in-store environment.
Ability to translate technical or installation requirements into clear, practical guidance for field teams to ensure quality execution and consistency across sites.
