Job Description
Internal Opportunity – Biffa Employees Only
We’re building something new at Biffa and are looking for the right person internally to lead it.
Regional Engineering Manager, Mobile Support
This is a unique internal opportunity to design and implement a group-wide mobile engineering support model from the ground up, including the operating model, service offer, stakeholder engagement, commercial controls, and reporting structure.
You will lead our existing mobile controls capability, currently a team of 4 technicians, and establish a new mobile technician team of 9, delivering fixed asset support across our Commercial Collections division. This will include planned maintenance, reactive support, and developing more effective, forward-thinking approaches to maintaining critical assets.
The objective is to create a support model that is fast, consistent, visible, and scalable, while maintaining the highest safety and engineering standards.
Key Responsibilities
• Develop and implement the mobile support operating model, including service scope, SLAs, ways of working, escalation routes, and performance reporting. This will build on the mobile technician framework already defined, including structured preventative maintenance and planned workload expectations.
• Lead a national team delivering high-quality engineering support across multiple sites, promoting a strong safety-first culture and consistent standards.
• Engage with stakeholders across the business, including operational leaders and internal service users, translating requirements into a clear, measurable service offering.
• Take ownership of financial performance, including budgets, cost control, financial modelling, and demonstrating value through reporting and outcomes.
• Embed strong systems and process discipline, ensuring documentation, service reporting, and management systems are robust and scalable.
About You
This role will suit someone who thrives on building and shaping new ways of working rather than inheriting established structures. You will bring strong engineering credibility, commercial awareness, and the ability to lead with clarity and confidence.
