About the role:
Are you looking to work with a growing multinational, fast paced organisation? If so, then this could be the opportunity for you. We are looking for a Regional Compliance Officer who will provide support on both the compliance and governance duties and responsibilities for the Monument entities based in Bermuda.
Responsibilities:
Compliance Oversight• Maintain and support the Company’s compliance framework in accordance with the Insurance Act 1978, related legislation, regulations and codes.
• Monitor regulatory updates, analyse their impact, and prepare horizon scanning, and coordinate required action.
• Assist with regulatory filings and reporting.
• Conduct compliance assurance monitoring.
• Maintain compliance policies, procedures, registers, and documentation.
• Support compliance with the Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA), including recordkeeping, policy maintenance, incident handling, and coordination with the Privacy Officer.
• Assist with compliance requirements under the Economic Substance Act, including documentation and filings.
• Preparation and Delivery of compliance training.
• Support intra-group services reviews and oversight.
Corporate Governance Support
• Assist with Board and Committee governance activities.
• Manage governance calendars and track key regulatory and corporate deadlines.
Risk and Internal Control Support• Support alignment of compliance activities with risk and internal control frameworks, including the RCSA.
• Assist with policy reviews, outsourcing oversight, business continuity compliance, and other risk-related processes.
Role Requirements:
• Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a compliance, governance, or regulatory role within the Bermuda insurance sector (Life or commercial re/insurance experience preferred).
• Strong understanding of regulatory requirements and practices, covering assurance, AML/ATF and data protection and good knowledge of corporate governance practices;
• Sound knowledge of the Insurance Act, the Economic Substance Act, PIPA, and the Companies Act;
• A bachelor’s degree or a relevant professional qualification at an equivalent level;
• Professional certification/s in compliance, risk, governance or a relevant insurance qualification to diploma level (e.g., from ICA, IRM, CII, the Institutes/CPCU, CGI/ICSA).
• Strong writing, communication, and analytical skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and ideally experience of company secretarial/compliance software;
• Excellent experience of promoting a compliance culture; and
• Ability to demonstrate keeping abreast of regulatory change and understanding and interpreting regulatory requirements.
• Excellent work ethic with collaboration, and organisation skills;
• Proactive and able to work autonomously;
• Problem-solver who takes initiative to identify issues and recommend solutions.
• Objective, analytical and detail-orientated person who displays high levels of integrity and ethical conduct.
• Adaptable, with the ability to respond to changing regulatory and business needs.
