This includes text, photos, videos, graphics, radio reports, and other formats. As an internationally active agency, dpa reports in seven languages. Around 1,000 journalists work from approximately 150 locations in Germany and abroad. dpa’s shareholders include around 170 German media companies. The dpa editorial team operates according to the principles set forth in the dpa Statutes: independent of ideologies, commercial enterprises, or governments.

We are seeking an Editor (m/f/d) for AP World News in Sydney, starting June 1, 2026. The position is permanent and full-time.

The job + The responsibility:
• Writing news stories, summaries, background reports, and correspondent reports based on content from the Associated Press (AP) international news service
• Monitoring the news landscape and independently making editorial decisions regarding the priority and scope of coverage

You + Your strengths:
• A college degree, solid training in journalism, and several years of professional experience
• Experience working in the editorial department of a news agency
• Ability to work independently, accurately, and reliably even under significant time pressure
• Excellent command of English and a keen feel for the German language
• A strong interest in global issues and international news
• Experience in news judgment and decision-making skills

• Work in an international newsroom in downtown Sydney
• Salary paid in AUD, with regular payroll processing including social security contributions and tax withholding in accordance with Australian law
• Visa and work permit processing handled through established procedures with a visa service
• Team integration and a hybrid work model combining in-office newsroom work and remote work
• Relocation allowance, including airfare for travel to and from the assignment location
