Job Description
The Recreation Programmer works under the general direction of the Director of Recreation and Parks, performing; responsible administrative and supervisory work in developing, scheduling, and directing recreational programs. Work involves responsibility for the development, coordination and supervision of recreation activities; as well as hiring training and supervising instructors. The program director is responsible for implementing specialized program, promoting and publicizing the various aspects of the City’s recreation program and supervising the recreation program budget. This position requires a considerable amount of public contact with children, parents and people of all ages. Work requires independent judgment, ingenuity to accomplish recreation objectives. Work is reviewed through conferences, reports, observation and results.
Essential Functions:
Plans, organizes, supervises, and schedules various recreation programs for the community.
Responsible for the staffing, training, scheduling and supervision and evaluation of subordinates.
Maintains activity records and attendance reports; maintains time sheets.
Plans and has the responsibility for the operation of recreation facilities; plans, organizes and conducts off site trips and activities, special events and overnight / multi-night trips.
Organizes, schedules and enrolls participants in various programs.
Prepares news releases, brochures, informational bulletins, and related publicity; prepares correspondence as required.
Conducts organizational meetings for various recreation programs; provides rules and regulations to participants.
Coordinates transportation for out of City recreation events.
Ensures that appropriate safety measures, personal protective equipment is used during recreational events.
Performs all other related work as required.
Schedule:
Sunday 8AM to 5PM
Monday 11AM to 8PM
Tuesday 11AM to 8PM
Wednesday 11AM to 8PM
Thursday 11AM to 8PM
Summer schedule will include more daytime hours.
