JOB DESCRIPTION
Recreation Assistant
FLSA Status: Part Time, Non-Exempt
Reports To: Director of BoroHaps
ROLE SUMMARY
The Recreation Assistant will be the primary point of contact for groups or individuals renting the Boro gymnasium,
banquet hall, party rooms, etc. This is a fantastic opportunity to gain valuable work experience, develop customer
service skills, and contribute to the smooth operation of Plum Boro facilities.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES, RESPONSIBILITIES, & KEY MEASURES
• Act as the main point of contact (on site) for individuals or groups during their rental time of any of
the available spaces at the Plum Boro Municipal Complex.
o Spaces include a gymnasium, banquet hall, party rooms, and amphitheater.
• Assist the customer(s) with any issues or questions during their rental.
• Promptly contact appropriate Plum Boro staff members when necessary (BoroHaps, Police, etc).
• Provide the customer(s) with applicable facility rules.
QUALIFICATIONS (EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE)
• This role is open to all ages, but you must be at least 14 years of age.
• Strong communication skills.
• Customer service oriented with a positive attitude.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES TYPICAL OF THIS POSITION
• Basic computer knowledge to complete timesheet entries for time worked.
• Ability to use a smart phone.
HOURS/SCHEDULE
• This is a flexible position allowing for part-time work as desired.
• Shifts can be as short as 2 hours and as long as 12 hours.
MINORS UNDER 16 MUST HAVE A WRITTEN STATEMENT BY THE MINOR’S PARENT OR GUARDIAN
ACKNOWLEDGING THE DUTIES AND HOURS OF EMPLOYMENT AND GRANTING PERMISSION TO WORK.
MINORS MUST OBTAIN A WORK PERMIT FROM THE SCHOOL DISTRICT IN WHICH THEY RESIDE.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Constantly Incurred (More than 75% of time on job)
Ability to sit for long periods, ability to communicate orally, ability to hear conversation.
Frequently Incurred (Between 25% - 75% of time on job)
Ability to stand, ability to walk, repetitive finger movement, ability to use both hands, ability to use both legs,
ability to climb stairs, ability to stoop, specific visual requirements, use of depth perception.
Occasionally Incurred (Less than 25% of time on job)
Ability to lift a maximum of 50 pounds, Ability to carry/push/pull, ability to kneel, reaching at high or low levels,
ability to pull hand over hand, ability to balance, repetitive twisting or pressure involving wrists or hands, ability to
repeatedly bend, ability to operate truck/motor vehicle.
WORKING CONDITIONS
This position will require work inside and outside of the Plum Boro Municipal Complex depending on the
assignment.
