Title: Real Estate Paralegal
The Real Estate Paralegal will be responsible for assisting with matters relating to the company’s acquisition, maintenance, and disposition of real property interests, including, but not limited to, processing and recording of option, purchase, lease, easement, and other land-related agreements, coordinating and reviewing title work, surveys and other real estate-related due diligence, assistance with coordination of real estate closings, and other administrative support tasks related to real estate within the company. This position will report directly to the company’s General Counsel, work closely with other attorneys in the Legal Department, and have regular interaction with the company’s management, development, construction, business development and finance teams.
Roles & Responsibilities:
Conducts detailed due diligence reviews of title work and surveys, works with Development Team to identify material title/survey issues, and provides analyses, support, and supervision for necessary title curative work in connection with project development, finance, construction, and/or operation
Serves as primary contact with Title Companies after initial title commitment has been ordered and interfaces directly with Title Companies to resolve title issues and in connection with closing logistics and coordination
Processes executed contracts and handles recordings of contract memoranda, easements, and other recordable documents
Provides real estate due diligence support for project finance and M&A transactions
Prepares timelines and checklists for closings, and coordinates directly with the company’s counterparties, outside counsel, Title Companies, surveyors, and other applicable stakeholders to manage closing logistics (with assistance/supervision from attorneys in the Legal Department)
Contributes to developing, improving, and implementing processes, procedures, best practices, systems, and controls within the real estate area, including assistance with maintenance, management, and updates to the company’s standard real estate forms
Assists attorneys in the Legal Department with the following:
Reviewing and drafting leases, easements, option agreements, purchase and sale agreements, and other project site control documents
Contract assignments, notices of option exercise, escrow instruction letters, subordination agreements, surface waivers, closing documents, and other real estate documents
Drafting, reviewing, and managing real estate closing deliverables in connection with M&A transactions and/or other construction, finance or asset management matters
General real estate legal-related trainings for the Project Development Team and/or other company departments as needed
Performs other related duties and special projects as assigned
Skills:
Excellent written, verbal and non-verbal communication; able to communicate to audiences with varying degrees of technical understanding
Strong negotiation and presentation skills
Proficiency with Microsoft products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, Outlook, etc.)
Experience in renewable energy industry preferred but not required
Experience working with commercial real estate developers and/or supporting commercial real estate transactions in multiple states preferred
Paralegal certification preferred
Experience using Salesforce and Inspire Planner is a plus

Education & Experience:
4-year university degree, BS or BA or equivalent, relevant professional experience
2+ years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified
Travel & Time Commitment:
Limited travel related to company events
This is a full-time, exempt salaried position. Standard office hours are from 8:30 AM – 5:30 PM EST. The demands of projects may require work outside of these times.
