Railcar Abrasive Blaster
Location: Beaumont, TX
Schedule: Full-Time | Day Shift (6:00 AM to 2:30 PM) & Evening Shift (2:30 PM to 11:00 PM)
Pay: $2/hr and up, + $1.00/hr Evening Shift Differential
About the Role
Iron Horse is growing and we are hiring additional Abrasive Blasters to support our expanding Paint Operations in Beaumont, TX. This is a stable, full-time industrial role with advancement opportunities into coatings, inspection, and specialty repair work. Iron Horse is seeking motivated, hands-on individuals to join our growing team as Railcar Abrasive Blasters. In this role, you’ll be responsible for preparing freight cars for coating by removing paint, rust, and other surface materials. This is a physically active position that plays a key role in maintaining the quality and safety of railcars. What You’ll Do
Set up and operate blasting machines for interior and exterior railcar surfaces
Clean, mask, and prep designated areas of freight cars
Remove parts not needing blasting or painting
Use hand-held blasting tools to remove old coatings, rust, grease, and debris
Read and follow job work orders accurately
Notify supervisors of any necessary railcar repairs
Perform work efficiently, safely, and within allotted timeframes
Maintain equipment and work area in clean, working condition
Support a safety-first work environment and follow all company policies
What We’re Looking For
High school diploma or GED required
1 - 3 years of experience in railcar prep, abrasive blasting, or related fields preferred
Comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions
Familiarity with blasting tools, minor railcar repairs, and related equipment
Experience with hydroblasting, sandblasting, or sponge jet blasting a plus
Ability to read basic work drawings and follow scope-of-work instructions
Strong teamwork, attention to detail, and willingness to learn new skills

Working Environment
Frequent lifting (up to 75 lbs solo, 150 lbs team lift)

Use of respirators and other PPE as required
Exposure to loud noise, dust, fumes, and varying weather conditions
