About the role
We are looking for a curious, passionate, and driven R&D Intern to join our Spreads team for Emerging Markets and support our work on improving the nutrition of our spreads portfolio.
In this role, you will dive into the science behind ingredient choices and interactions in spreads, supporting the optimization of formulations for next-generation products. You will work on spreads for emerging markets and contribute to research focused on improving the nutritional profile of our portfolio.
You will gain hands-on experience in the lab and pilot plant, independently produce prototypes, conduct analysis, and lead product tastings. The project will be focusing on researching and testing nutritional ingredients and understanding how different ingredient choices influence product functionality.
You will test new recipes, combine ingredients to create prototypes at lab scale, support scale-up activities in the pilot plant, perform analytical testing, and share your findings with the team. You will also interact with different stakeholders, including the Nutrition team and Regulatory team. You will also take part in the intern challenge, collaborating with other interns on a shared project during your internship.

So, what does it take to be successful in this role?
• You are a Master’s student in Food Technology or a similar field at a Dutch or European university.
• You are enrolled as a student for the full duration of the internship.
• You are detail-oriented, hands-on, curious, and eager to learn.
• You have strong analytical skills to interpret experimental data and translate results into insights.
• You are comfortable working with lab equipment and performing hands-on experimental work.
• You are adaptable and have a collaborative spirit to work effectively within a dynamic, multicultural team.
• You are interested in hands-on lab and pilot plant work.
• It is a plus if you have prior knowledge of nutrition, spreads, fat crystallization, ingredient functionality, and/or fats and oils.
