Role Summary
Every shipment that leaves a factory in China carries ChaiVision’s name on it — and our customers don’t see the inspection report or the QC checklist, they only see what arrives at their door. Quality is the difference between a five-star review and a return, and right now we need someone on the ground in China who treats that bar as personal.
The Quality Assurance Manager will own product quality end-to-end across our China supply base — from in-line production through final inspection and shipment approval. You’ll oversee our third-party inspection partner, visit factories regularly, dig into root cause when defects repeat, and hold suppliers accountable when standards slip. No shipment leaves without your team’s confidence that the product meets ChaiVision’s standard.
What You’ll Do
Factory Quality Oversight
Own the full quality assurance process in China — ensure factories only ship product that meets ChaiVision standards
Visit factories regularly during production to check workmanship, consistency, and manufacturing process adherence
Monitor production before final inspection to catch issues early and reduce shipment risk
Confirm factories are following approved specifications, packaging requirements, and quality expectations
Make the final call: no product is released for shipment unless quality standards have been met
Inspection Partner Oversight
Oversee ChaiVision’s third-party inspection partner — attend inspections on a regular basis to confirm work is being done thoroughly and correctly
Monitor inspection performance and hold the partner accountable when issues are missed
Review inspection reports for accuracy, completeness, and alignment with company standards
Quality Issue Resolution
Investigate repeated product issues and identify the root cause of defects or failures
Develop practical solutions to reduce repeat problems and improve overall quality performance
Coordinate with a China-based engineer when technical review or product evaluation is needed
Follow through with factories to ensure corrective actions are put in place and maintained
Customer Service & Factory Accountability
Review customer service quality issues — complaints, defects, and replacement trends — and trace them back to production or inspection root causes
Calculate the cost of quality failures (replacements, refunds, defect-related expenses) and tie that cost to the responsible supplier
Support the process of charging quality-failure costs back to factories through credits or deductions on future invoices
Documentation & Reporting
Keep clear records of factory visits, inspections, recurring issues, and corrective actions
Track supplier performance, defect patterns, and inspection concerns over time
Share quality updates and issue summaries with leadership on a regular cadence
Continuously improve quality procedures, follow-up processes, and accountability systems
Who You Are
Quality-Focused — you care about details and take pride in making sure products meet expectations before they ship
Experienced in Factory Quality — you understand manufacturing, inspections, and supplier quality processes, especially in a Chinese factory setting
Hands-On — you’re comfortable going to factories, walking lines, joining inspections, and addressing issues directly
A Problem Solver — you don’t stop at finding the issue; you work to understand why it happened and how to prevent the next one
Accountable and Direct — comfortable holding factories and inspection partners responsible when standards aren’t met
Organized and Analytical — you can track quality trends, connect issues to cost, and document problems and action steps clearly
Collaborative — you work well with Product Development, Customer Service, suppliers, inspection partners, and engineering support to solve issues effectively
Independent and Reliable — you manage your own follow-up, make decisions in the field, and keep issues moving toward resolution
Qualifications
5+ years of experience in quality assurance, supplier quality, or factory QC — ideally in consumer products, home goods, fitness equipment, or similar physical goods
Deep familiarity with Chinese manufacturing landscape — comfortable visiting factories independently and communicating directly with factory teams
Strong working knowledge of inspection processes (AQL sampling, in-line checks, final random inspection) and QC documentation
Bilingual Mandarin / English strongly preferred — written and spoken
Experience overseeing third-party inspection providers is a strong plus
Comfortable with regular travel between factories in China and flexibility to coordinate with the U.S. team
