Rock West Composites, Inc. has an exciting opportunity for a Quality Inspector. This position is onsite at our San Diego, CA (92154) location. This position will support our Aircraft segment.
Rock West Composites, Inc. is an engineering and manufacturing company dedicated to providing innovative solutions for commercial and government customers. This position is located in our San Diego- Aircraft facility and reports to the Quality Manager.
Position Summary:
This role involves conducting visual and dimensional inspections of incoming materials, time/temperature-sensitive items, hardware, and in-process parts to ensure quality, appearance, and compliance with specifications and standards. Additionally, the position includes packaging, shipping, and distributing articles after verifying the accompanying documentation for accuracy and completeness, requiring strong attention to detail.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Inspects purchased parts, assemblies, accessories, and materials for conformance to specifications, using precision measuring instruments and devices: Examines items for defects in materials, work, and damage occurring in transit.
Reviews and documents time sensitive materials and effectively documents non-conformances
Compares quantity and part number of items received with procurement data and other specifications to ensure completeness and accuracy of order
Inspects and measures items for dimensional accuracy, fit, alignment, and functional operation, according to blueprints, parts manuals, company or military standards, and other specifications, using precision measuring instruments and devices
Approves or rejects items, records inspection, auditing, and disposition information. Maintain and assign inventory location and correct labeling
Documents in-coming and out-going inspection results by completing logs, summarize re-work and waste, and inputs data in quality databases and systems
Keeps measurement equipment operating by following operating instructions, calibration list and requirements, and organizing repairs or calibrations (Microsoft Office)
NON-ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
3-6 years of aerospace quality receiving experience
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, multi-tasking environment
Proficient in visual and dimensional inspections using hand tools (Calipers, Height Gauges)
Skilled in interpreting mechanical/composite drawings, GD&T, blueprints, and specifications
Experience with in-process, final, and receiving inspections
Strong communication skills and ability to work well in a team
Basic math and computer skills (Microsoft Office)
Experience with aerospace composite parts fabrication.
Experience with Six Sigma or Lean manufacturing
Experience with NADCAP and AS9100 Audits
US. Person under 22 CFR 120 (due to ITAR Restrictions)

Compensation:
The compensation range for this position falls within $24-$30. The final compensation will be determined based on experience, skillset, and other factors permitted by law.
