Job Summary
The QC Supervisor position at Jim Myers & Sons, Inc. (JMS) is a vital member of the Quality Team and is a diverse high paced position with the following primary responsibilities:
Responsibilities include:
Lead and enforce compliance with company policies, safety standards, and quality requirements
Promote a strong safety culture through coaching, training, and daily engagement
Train, mentor, and develop Quality Control personnel to ensure timely, thorough, and prioritized inspection execution
Manage team performance including timecards, PTO, reviews, and disciplinary actions
Ensure accurate time and production reporting in ERP (Epicor) and eQMS (Babtec) systems
Schedule and direct inspection workflow based on production needs and operations priorities
Communicate accurate status of critical inspection activities to production, project management, and leadership
Maintain accountability for meeting departmental deadlines and commitments
Oversee inspection activities across all production areas including incoming, machining, forming, welding, assembly, finishing, passivation, and final inspection
Perform and support inspections as needed, including reviewing drawings, verifying dimensions, and assisting with part identification
Ensure inspection of materials, in-process work, and finished products meets project and specification requirements with proper documentation
Maintain and control Material Test Reports and quality records, including review, scanning, and filing
Ensure all non conformances and deviations are properly documented and processed
Maintain calibration of inspection and testing equipment, including coordination of third-party services as required
Maintain working knowledge of applicable codes and standards (ASME, AWS, ASTM, etc.) and required certifications (AWS CWI, SNT-TC-1A)
Develop and improve procedures, work instructions, and process flows to reduce variation and improve efficiency
Participate in and drive continuous improvement initiatives
Interface with customers, third-party inspectors, and internal teams to ensure alignment on quality requirements
Support inspection operations through procurement of tools, materials, and supplies
Maintain organization and housekeeping standards within inspection areas
Qualifications
Minimum 5 years Leadman or better supervision teams 3 or greater employees.
Strong communication skills; verbal, written, and interpersonal.
Ability to use a tape measure and use construction math and machining math to complete inspections
Ability to read and interpret engineering fabrication / machine drawings and documents such as codes, standards, safety rules and procedure manuals.
Familiarity with welded metal fabricated products including mild carbon steel and stainless steels
Requires proficiency in Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, & Outlook
Ability to work effectively & efficiently with team members on multiple projects simultaneously
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills as well as a logical thought process
Ability to lift and carry 50 pounds.
Desire to learn and to continue developing knowledge and skills
Knowledge of fabrication processes such as bending, punching, welding, etc…
Experience with Codes of Construction AWS D1.6, D1.1, ASME Section IX
Possess a minimum of 10 years of combined visual/dimensional inspection and NDE experience
AWS CWI
Knowledge of ERP software: JMS utilizes Epicor.
Education
High School Diploma or GED
