Job Description

Purpose of the Position/ Role Summary

To support the Quality Control Laboratory Supervisor in all quality control functions, for performing all operations within the Quality Control Laboratory; ensuring that the guidelines set out in Eudralex Volume 4 are always adhered to.

Key Role Specific Requirements 

 

Production / Quality Control Effectiveness

Assist the quality control team to meet targets and schedules.

Promptly respond to quality control requests.

Provide hands on quality knowledge to production team.

Provide call-out support to quality control / production team as required.

Report equipment problems to the Quality Control Laboratory Supervisor immediately.

Report any errors, deviations, or non-conformances immediately to the Quality Manager.

 

Manage Quality Control

Coordinate and perform quality control laboratory activities.  Plans should include the deployment of contractor / supplier resources within the business.

Ensure that the standard operating procedures (SOPs) within Quality Control are always adhered to.

Ensure that all logbooks / records for testing packaging, raw materials, intermediate materials, finished products, equipment calibration etc are completed promptly and efficiently.

Ensure all data is available for review in the stated timeframe.

·         Assist in the development of SOPs for validation / equipment / systems when new items / processes are introduced.

Perform root cause analysis:

Review Laboratory Investigations that constantly require extra testing activities. Analyse the data to determine why repetitive testing is required.  Implement corrective action plans, document, and communicate.

Ensure all data is available for review in the stated timeframe.

Ensure that the quality control operations are kept running efficiently by carrying out any additional tasks.

Maintain good health, safety, and environmental practice at all times.

Ensure that the working area and equipment are left clean and tidy after use.

 

Laboratory Materials

Assist in the purchasing of reagents, spares and equipment for use in quality control activities.

 

 

 

New Project Implementation

Support the Quality Control Laboratory Supervisor to ensure successful new project implementation which includes validating new raw materials, sourcing new equipment, developing SOP’s and ensuring documentation adheres to all regulatory requirements.

Cross functional support                                                                                      

 

People Management

Support other members of the team as required to ensure the effective running of the business.

 

Continuous Improvement

 

Play an active role in the site’s continuous improvement plan by generating JDI’s, A3’s etc.

Identify and participate in sustainability improvement projects to reduce the site’s carbon emissions.

Ability to identify and separate the key components of problems and situations.  Ability to interpret information from a range of sources to spot patterns and trends in information and to deduce cause and effect from this.

Other Requirements

Essential:

 

Qualified to Degree level in a science based subject or internally trained.

Minimum 2 years of quality control experience.

Team player, flexible with good organisational skills.

Ability to learn and develop new skills.

Ability to propose solutions to problems encountered.

Ability to use own initiative and work without close supervision.

Understanding of GMP, Health & safety and Environmental Awareness.

Numerical and literacy skills.

Proficient in the use of MS Office tools.

Manual handling training.
