Title: Quality Assurance Officer
Function: Technical/Quality
Reporting line: Quality Team Lead
Location: Ashbourne, Co. Meath
Role type: Fixed Term contract 12 months
Shift: Day Shift (Monday – Thursday 7am – 3pm and Friday 7am – 2pm)
The Quality Assurance Officer will report directly to the Quality Team Lead and will be part of the Operations Technical/Quality Team. He/she will have responsibility through use of IWS tools for driving quality in the manufacturing facility resulting in continuous quality improvement. He/she will ensure an overall culture of quality process improvement and work alongside the production teams to ensure quality standards.
ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Manage and maintain the quality standards as per customer agreements and specifications
Maintain and manage finished product specifications
Participate and lead Quality wall checks, GMPs audits, glass audits
Carry out GMP audits, attend review and close out actions with responsible teams across shifts.
Provide the back up to ensure standards are consistently achieved
Communicate quality and food safety issues to shift production team and co-ordinate and participate in how to resolve these issues
Carry out specific training requirements as outlined by quality management systems
In conjunction with the production teams, raise awareness and effectiveness of operatives and supervisors to comply with quality standards to produce high quality product fit for human consumption.
Maintain and manage non-conformance logs, ensure log is fully up to date
Review and decide on the disposition options for all materials on hold in conjunction with the production teams
Identify root cause to production problems / issues, which impact product quality
Review and communicate complaints. Lead and close out investigations into complaints.
Attend and lead tasting sessions, hold onto shelf-life samples and taste product at the end of shelf life
Send finished and raw material product samples out to external lab for analysis according to set schedule
Manage results from external laboratory through analysis of results and implicating corrective actions of required.
HACCP and quality management systems
Participate in HACCP and quality management systems
Conduct and close out internal audits
Participate in external and customer audits and visits on site (BRC, AIB)
Ensure finished product is fit for consumption
KEY SKILLS / ATTRIBUTES / CORE COMPETENCIES:
Ability to demonstrate leadership skills
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Excellent attention to detail
Self-starter, pro-active and comfortable with challenging current practices and processes
Ability to work on own initiative.
REQUIREMENTS:
Have 2-3 years’ experience in a food manufacturing environment
Diploma or higher in a food science related subject (Desirable but not essential)
