Job Summary: The Quality and Food Safety Supervisor will learn the principles of lean manufacturing and the value proposition to the specific Quality and Food Safety function and needs to have the technical background to support innovation, commercialization of new products and to excel in a lean, operationally excellent culture. The Supervisor helps improve and maintain GFSI and FMSA compliance by developing tools to drive continuous improvement and process control. The Quality Supervisor is a front-line leader helping to build a positive culture, to provide technical leadership, and training and to serve as role models for the team. The Supervisor will be responsible for meeting timelines, finding solutions to problems, managing expectations, and delivering results.
Essential Functions:
Provide leadership on ensuring facility is kept safe, clean, and well organized
Partner cross-functionally to reduce risk within business and to strengthen people, programs, and processes
Work within the Bridgetown Performance System for continuous improvement
Assist in development, implementation and monitoring of a progressive, ongoing food safety program
Provide technical support for projects, R&D, reformulations, commercialization, process and sanitary design
Administer and train on GFSI code and program requirements
Approach issues with a risk-based approach, utilizing risk and likelihood
Provide training in the areas of quality systems, process integrity, regulatory, and food safety issues
Administer line audits process checks to ensure process control and product conformance to specification
Initiate food safety and quality hold procedures
Manage all Internal Audits and Corrective Action completion
Conduct and review analytical analyses on incoming ingredients and finished products
Measure and monitor environmental and plant conditions, including pre-operational startup
Conduct plant food safety and security audits, continually look for food safety hazards
Ensure compliance to equipment calibration and verification program
Maintain Environmental Monitoring Program
Ensure all Preventative Controls and FSMA compliance
Update, review and train on SOPs/SSOPs for food safety, Food Safety Plan, GMPs
Manage scheduling of hourly Quality and Sanitation partners
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Biology, Chemistry, Microbiology or equivalent
Quality Assurance background of 3-6 years in a Supervisory role; Food Manufacturing environment strongly preferred
Certified PCQI
Knowledge of GFSI and FMSA requirements
Demonstrated ability to work independently with minimal supervision effectively
Strong time management skills to manage ongoing projects, while supporting Quality during Production shifts
Ability to apply technical principles to solve problems and make data-based decisions
Positive attitude, strong work ethic, decisive nature, and high level of initiative
Respects process integrity and values results-critical thinker with strong analytical and reasoning abilities
Strong ability to train and engage other employees
Well-developed interpersonal skills with the ability to lead across disciplines
Attention to detail and belief in high standard of presentation
Ability to communicate and understand work instructions in English
Working Conditions/Physical Factors:
Able to conduct work in adherence to GFSI and Bridgetown Natural Foods policies
Able to work in environment containing nuts, peanuts, dairy, grains and other allergens
Ability to occasionally lift up to 50 pounds
Ability to safely maneuver through a production and warehouse environment
Ability to be flexible with work hours, shifts, and shifting priorities based on Production schedule
