Job Purpose
The QC Laboratory Team Leader is responsible for coordinating daily activities within the accredited Quality Control laboratory and providing scientific and technical support to the QC team. The role ensures that laboratory activities are planned, executed, and documented in compliance with ISO 17025 requirements and the company quality management system.
The position acts as a key coordination point between the QC laboratory, Quality Assurance, and other internal stakeholders. The role supports the Sr. Quality Manager in maintaining the laboratory’s SWEDAC accreditation and ensuring the reliability and integrity of analytical work performed on probiotic products.
Duties and responsibilities
Laboratory Coordination
Coordinate daily laboratory activities and analytical workload within the QC team.
Plan and organize laboratory work to ensure efficient execution of analyses and timely reporting of results.
Facilitate communication within the QC team and ensure alignment on laboratory priorities.
Organize and conduct laboratory meetings as needed.
Monitor laboratory activities and escalate technical or operational issues to the Sr. Quality Manager when required.
Scientific and Technical Support
Provide scientific expertise related to microbiological and analytical methods used for probiotic products.
Participate in analytical testing and laboratory maintenance work when needed.
Support troubleshooting of analytical methods and laboratory procedures.
Assist with evaluation and approval of analytical results.
Contribute to method implementation, improvement, and optimization.
Method Responsibility
Serve as method responsible for selected microbiological and identity methods within the laboratory.
Maintain and update method instructions and related documentation.
Ensure analytical testing is performed according to approved procedures and validated methods.
Initiate deviations when results fall outside established limits or when procedures are not followed.
Support to ISO 17025 / SWEDAC Accredited Activities
Support the Sr. Quality Manager in maintaining compliance with ISO 17025 requirements.
Participate in preparation for internal and external audits including SWEDAC inspections.
Assist with validation activities and documentation in accordance with laboratory procedures.
Support preparation and review of analytical reports and certificates where required.
Quality System and QA–QC Interface
Act as a link between the QC laboratory and Quality Assurance.
Support handling of deviations, non-conformities, and CAPA related to QC activities.
Coordinate documentation updates and quality system activities impacting the laboratory.
Assist in responding to technical and documentation requests related to laboratory activities.
Documentation and Administrative Activities
Maintain laboratory documentation including procedures, work instructions, and technical reports.
Support preparation of analytical certificates and reports for internal and external stakeholders.
Assist with coordination of laboratory documentation required for regulatory or customer requests.
Qualifications
Master’s degree in microbiology, biotechnology, food science, or related scientific discipline.
Strong scientific understanding of microbiological and analytical methods.
Experience working in a microbiology or analytical laboratory environment.
Knowledge of probiotic analysis is highly desirable.
Familiarity with ISO 17025 accredited laboratories is an advantage.
Experience and Skills
Experience working in food, dietary supplement, pharmaceutical, or biotechnology laboratories.
Strong technical problem-solving skills related to microbiological or analytical methods.
Good understanding of laboratory documentation and quality systems.
Ability to coordinate laboratory activities and support a small scientific team.
Can speak, read and and write Swedish and English professionally
