Summary of Position
Reporting to the Purchasing and Inventory Manager, the Purchasing Specialist executes the procurement process to maintain optimal inventory levels, control costs, and ensure high quality standards and timely deliveries. This role handles day-to-day purchasing requests, ensuring the material and services are available to support operations without disruption while driving value and cost savings. Responsibilities include forecasting seasonal demands, evaluating inventory needs, and efficiently responding to supplier and customer inquiries. The Specialist also proactively addresses procurement issues such as order delays, shortages, and changes to support effective and efficient sourcing outcomes.
Duties & Responsibilities
Functions include, but are not limited to:
 Primary Responsibilities:
• Monitor and manage inventory levels to maintain necessary stock of parts, materials, and supplies
• Effectively communicate with vendors and suppliers to ensure on-time delivery of quality products
• Build and manage strong relationships with vendors, suppliers, and internal stakeholders
• Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and external regulatory requirements
• Prepare and review purchase orders and invoices for accuracy
• Regularly review and manage open purchase orders and receipts
• Review and process non-inventory requisition orders
• Prepare for Seasonal work (harvest, irrigation, etc.,) by forecasting, bidding and ordering
• Review slow-moving inventory to minimize waste
• Review and Update min/max levels
• Cross reference inventory parts and identify optimal sourcing options
• Respond efficiently to purchasing and accounts payable inquiries
 Additional Functions
• Provide backup support during month-end closing
• Provide coverage for team meetings as required
• Assist Inventory Managers, Assistant Inventory Managers, and Shop Personnel as needed

Qualifications Requirements
Critical/Functional Skills
• Strong negotiation, interpersonal, and communication skills
• Excellent organizational and time management abilities
• Strong analytical skills with the capability to interpret data effectively
• High level of accuracy and attention to detail
Education and/or Experience Preferred but not Required:
• High School Diploma or GED equivalent (Required)
• Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, Business, or a related field — or equivalent combination of education and experience-Preferred
• 0-3 years of experience in purchasing, procurement, or supply chain operations, preferably in a fast-paced or manufacturing environment.
• Experience and proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
• Proven experience as a Purchasing Specialist or similar role
• Comprehensive knowledge of purchasing principles and best practices
• Proficiency in EBS, Fleet Asset Works, Tableau Reporting, and SharePoint
• Ability to understand chemical specifications, SDS documentation, and compliance requirements
• Bilingual (English/Spanish) proficiency preferred
Certification and Licenses:
• Forklift Certification preferred
Pay Range: $22.00-$23.50. Final compensation will be dependent upon skills & experience.
