Position Overview
We are seeking a highly organized and driven Purchasing & Production Manager to oversee material procurement, vendor relationships, and assist with production scheduling for our growing design-build landscaping division.
This role is critical to ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and at the highest quality standards. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced environment, understands construction and landscaping operations, and can effectively coordinate between design, field crews, and vendors.
Key Responsibilities
Purchasing & Vendor Management
Source and procure all materials for landscaping and hardscaping projects (plants, stone, pavers, lighting, irrigation, etc.)
Build and maintain strong relationships with local and regional vendors
Negotiate pricing, track cost fluctuations, and identify cost-saving opportunities
Ensure timely ordering and delivery of materials to meet production schedules
Maintain accurate purchase orders and inventory tracking systems
Production & Scheduling
Assist with weekly and long-term production schedules across multiple crews
Develop and manage Gantt schedules to coordinate crews, materials, and project timelines, ensuring jobs are completed on time and within budget
Coordinate closely with the design team to ensure smooth project handoffs
Align labor, equipment, and materials to maximize efficiency and minimize downtime
Monitor project timelines and proactively adjust schedules as needed
Ensure all jobs are set up for success prior to crew mobilization
Budgeting & Cost Control
Track job costs related to materials and production
Work with leadership to maintain target profit margins
Identify inefficiencies and implement process improvements
Assist in estimating support as needed (material takeoffs, vendor pricing)
Qualifications
3+ years of experience in landscaping, construction, or production management
Strong knowledge of landscaping materials, hardscaping, and installation processes preferred
Proven ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously
Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills
Strong communication skills
Experience with purchasing, vendor negotiation, and scheduling
Proficiency in Microsoft Office; experience with project management or CRM software is a plus
