Job Summary
The Purchasing Coordinator is responsible for coordinating the daily workload of employees to ensure timely cost-effective purchases, updating order records and ensuring a fully stocked inventory. This person is the backup for the Purchasing Supervisor.
Duties and Responsibilities
Ensure orders are tracked and ensure timely delivery.
Manage the assigned purchasing process and delegate the department tasks to ensure that records are updated. (ie. Invoices, vendors and contracts)
Conduct market research to identify pricing trends.
Prepare cost analysis.
Follow up with suppliers, as needed, to confirm or change orders.
Work with warehouse staff to ensure all products arrive in good condition.
Perform other related duties as necessary and assigned.
Education and Experience
3-5 years’ experience in purchasing or similar role.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Other Characteristics
Management, supervisory and ‘people’skills
Understanding of supply chain procedures.
Knowledge of Microsoft office and Excel.
Ability to perform market research.
Solid organizational skills.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
Possess exceptional communication skills.
Work Environment
Office and trips to the production and manufacturing plant. In the plant side of the company is a working fabrication and manufacturing shop with always transitioning parts and materials. In that area tools and equipment are used, and it is at times very loud, dusty, hot and safety is of high importance, you must always be on the lookout and pay attention to your surrounds as Safety starts with you.
Travel
No greater than 5% in a year.

Must possess resourcefulness, initiative, and skill to function in a fast-paced environment; attention to detail in goal/task accomplishment with minimal supervision; professionalism and the ability to interact effectively with others.
Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this Job, the employee required to use hands and fingers to handle or feel. The employee is required to stand; walk; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
