Purchaser/Inventory Management
Are you organized, great at building vendor relationships, and making sure the right materials are in the right place at the right time? Do you take pride in accuracy, efficiency, and keeping operations running smoothly?
First Choice Millwork is a Calgary-based team of about 30 people who take pride in doing great work, supporting each other, and delivering high-quality results for our clients. We are looking for a Purchaser/Inventory Control professional to support our operations team by managing procurement, inventory, and material flow for our commercial millwork projects.
This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, takes ownership, and is comfortable balancing detailed administrative work with hands-on coordination. This role is based in our Calgary office.
What You’ll Be Doing
Keep Projects Moving
Source and purchase materials to meet project timelines and budgets
Work with vendors and suppliers to obtain pricing, availability, and delivery schedules
Obtain and analyze multiple quotes to ensure best value (cost, quality, delivery)
Identify and onboard new vendors to improve cost, quality, and reliability
Track and follow up on orders to ensure materials arrive when required
Own Inventory and Material Flow
Maintain adequate inventory levels while minimizing excess
Coordinate receiving and resolving discrepancies between purchase orders and deliveries
Support inventory tracking, cycle counts, and proper material storage practices
Drive Accuracy Efficiency
Create and issue purchase orders with proper approvals and documentation
Maintain accurate procurement records, vendor databases, and pricing history
Resolve discrepancies between vendors, purchase orders, and invoices
Support the Warehouse
Supervise and support the Warehouse Assistant
Assign tasks, monitor performance, and provide feedback
Promote a safe, organized, and efficient work environment
Work as One Team
Work closely with Project Managers, Estimators, and Operations to align purchasing with project needs
Communicate clearly with internal and external stakeholders to resolve issues
Contribute to continuous improvement of purchasing and inventory process
What You Bring to the Team
Industry Experience: 5+ years in purchasing, procurement, or inventory control (millwork or construction experience preferred).
Education & Training: Formal purchasing training (PMAC/SCMP) is an asset.
Technical Skills: Strong Microsoft Office skills (especially excel) and ERP experience.
Supply Chain Knowledge: Solid understanding of sourcing, vendors, and inventory control.
Leadership: Experience supervising and supporting team members is an asset.
Attention to Detail: High level of accuracy with strong organizational skills.
Communication & Teamwork: Clear communicator who works well with vendors and internal teams.
Time Management: Ability to manage multiple prioritizes in a fast-paced environment.
