A Public Education Program Coordinator job is available with the City of Fort Worth Public Library. This position is responsible for creating, managing, and evaluating large-scale public events, overseeing public art displays, and developing strategic community engagement initiatives, including sustaining a Friends of the Library group. The role collaborates with internal library teams and external stakeholders to deliver impactful programs that enhance public engagement and cultural enrichment. Reports to the Assistant Library Director and leads ad hoc teams throughout the year without permanent direct reports.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in Business Administration, Public Administration, Public Relations, Journalism, Social Sciences, Marketing, Communications, or a related field

• Three years of increasingly responsible experience in public relations or marketing, including one year of administrative and budgetary responsibility

• Possession of, or ability to obtain, an appropriate, valid Texas driver’s license

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience managing public art programs or cultural initiatives

• Experience working in a library, cultural institution, or government agency

• Experience in fundraising or donor engagement (Friends of the Library)

• Experience with grant writing or proposal development for community programs

• Experience with volunteer coordination for events or community initiatives

• Experience with project management tools

The Public Education Program Coordinator job responsibilities include:

• Plan, organize, and manage large-scale public events and festivals, which includes scheduling, logistics, vendor coordination, etc.

• Develop and maintain partnerships with community organizations, artists, and stakeholders to support public engagement initiatives.

• Manage the creation, installation, and maintenance of public art exhibits in city-owned facilities.

• Serve as the city’s liaison to the Friends of the Library including working with board leadership to oversee the group’s recruitment, engagement, event planning and board meetings.

• Serve as project lead for ad hoc teams during major events and initiatives, providing guidance and coordination without formal supervisory authority.

• Monitor and evaluate program effectiveness, collect data, and prepare reports for leadership to inform strategic planning.

• Budget monitoring and resource allocation for events or programs.

• Public speaking and presentation delivery to diverse audiences.

Working Conditions and Physical Demands

Sedentary Work – Depending on assignment, positions in this class typically exert up to 10 pounds of force occasionally, a negligible amount of force frequently, and/ or constantly having to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally and all other sedentary criteria are met.

Depending on the assignment, positions in this class typically require touching, talking, hearing, seeing, grasping, standing, walking, and repetitive motions.
