About the Role
We are currently looking for a Psychology Assistant to join our STEP IEI Early Intervention team (age group 3-5 years). The Psychology Assistant is a valued member of our multidisciplinary team, supporting a caring and collaborative environment. The role involves observing and documenting behaviour, contributing to goal setting, assisting with behaviour intervention plans, supporting staff and parents, and helping prepare professional reports on the relevant platforms.
What you'll be doing
Working under the guidance of a warranted Psychologist, the Psychology Assistant supports the delivery of high-quality psychological services to children with Autism and their families. This includes assisting with assessments, supporting service users directly, maintaining thorough documentation, and performing administrative duties that contribute to the smooth functioning of the department.
This role is central to ensuring that each family receives timely, coordinated, and compassionate support throughout their journey with Inspire.
Under supervision, the Psychology Assistant will:
Support the smooth running of the psychology department and its services for children with Autism and their families.
Assist in assessing new clients using appropriate psychological tools and contribute to setting intervention goals within the multidisciplinary team.
Monitor client progress and assist with periodic reassessments to evaluate and adapt intervention plans.
Participate in multidisciplinary case conferences, collaborating with families and staff in the creation of IFSPs and IEPs.
Prepare and present professional reports ahead of case conferences.
Work in partnership with families and staff to understand each client’s needs and promote inclusion at home, school, and within the community.
Maintain detailed and accurate documentation of services and undertake administrative duties that support the department’s efficiency.
Follow the Psychology Professional Code of Conduct and Ethics as outlined by the Malta Psychology Profession Board (MPPB).
Follow all health and safety policies, attending training and applying precautions to maintain a safe environment for all.
Report any potential data breaches to the Data Protection Officer (DPO).
Share constructive suggestions to improve processes across departments.
Communicate sensitively and effectively with clients, carers, and colleagues, especially when addressing complex or delicate matters.
Promote awareness of the Psychology Service within the multidisciplinary team and wider organisation.
Adhere to the foundation’s Code of Ethics & Professional Conduct.
Before joining and throughout employment, candidates must meet the requirements of the Protection of Minors Act (POMA) and maintain necessary immunisation.
What we’re looking for
An empathetic, compassionate individual with a solid background in psychology, excellent observation and analytical skills, open-minded approach.
Qualifications & Experience
Recognized degree qualification (rated and MQF Level 6) in Psychology.
At least one (1) year post graduation experience ideally in a similar setting.
High Proficiency in English language (both spoken & written – C1 Level).
Available to start immediately (November 2025).
