Our reputable healthcare organization, Neurospine Institute WA, is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Psychologist with a special interest in pain to join our dynamic team.

Responsibilities:

Conduct comprehensive psychological assessments and evaluations to understand patients’ pain experiences, psychological factors, and their impact on overall well-being.
Develop and implement evidence-based treatment plans tailored to individual patients, focusing on pain management and enhancing psychological resilience.
Provide psychological interventions, such as cognitive-behavioural therapy (CBT), acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), mindfulness-based interventions, and other approaches, to help patients cope with and manage their pain effectively.
Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, including surgeons, physicians, physical therapists, occupational therapists, and other healthcare professionals, to ensure integrated care and holistic treatment for patients with pain conditions.
Conduct research and contribute to the development of new interventions and strategies for pain management.
Provide education and training to patients, families, and caregivers on psychological aspects of pain management and strategies for enhancing their overall well-being.
Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of patient assessments, treatment plans, and progress notes in accordance with professional and ethical standards.
Stay abreast of the latest research, developments, and best practices in the field of pain psychology.

Qualifications:

Doctoral degree (Ph.D. or Psy.D.) in Clinical Psychology or Counselling Psychology from an accredited institution.
Current and valid professional license or certification to practice psychology.
Specialisation or postdoctoral training in pain psychology, chronic pain management, or related field is desirable.
Proven experience in conducting psychological assessments and providing evidence-based interventions for patients with pain conditions.
Strong knowledge of various psychological treatment modalities, including CBT, ACT, and mindfulness-based approaches, as they relate to pain management.
Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to establish rapport and build therapeutic relationships with patients, families, and healthcare professionals.
Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to convey complex concepts in a clear and understandable manner.
Ability to work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
Demonstrated commitment to ongoing professional development and staying current with the latest research and advancements in pain psychology.
