About the Opportunity

The Clinical Psychologist (PhD) is an essential member of the Senior's Health Care Program within the Rehabilitation and Supportive Care portfolio of Nova Scotia Health Authority. Psychologists are responsible for the planning, delivery, and evaluation of services as well as the education and supervision of students. Nova Scotia Health Authority offers a CPA accredited pre-doctoral internship program in Clinical Psychology. The Psychologist provides assessment, intervention, teaching, research, and consultative services within an interdisciplinary approach to clinical care, and works collaboratively with Inter-professional team.


The primary focus of this role is to address the psychosocial needs of veterans and residents while providing appropriate support to their significant others. The successful candidate will help develop and shape program delivery that supports aging in place, dementia care, adjustment to communal living and palliative circumstances. Key responsibilities include supporting the ongoing development and delivery of programs that enhance residents’ psychosocial wellbeing, contributing to interdisciplinary care plans, and offering consultation to Camp Hill team members and other health care providers. The role may also involve individual assessment and care planning as needed.


The Psychologist may be required to provide services throughout the Rehabilitation and Supportive Care Services portfolio.

About You

We would love to hear from you if you have the following:


Doctoral degree from a recognized, accredited program in Clinical Psychology with a strong clinical health psychology background and experience working with elderly populations.
A one-year accredited clinical pre-doctoral internship is required
Registered or eligible for registration with the Nova Scotia Board of Examiners in Psychology (NSBEP) is required
Familiarity with clinical health psychology assessment and intervention is highly desirable
Familiarity with dementia and other diagnoses (medical, psychological) leading to placement in long-term care highly desirable
Demonstrated experience and expertise in formulating diagnoses and implementing treatment plans
Self-directed in his/her practice with an ability to work independently and as an effective member of a multidisciplinary team while dealing with challenging clinical situations
Demonstrated knowledge and skills in clinical research and program evaluation would be an asset
Experience in clinical supervision of psychology trainees would be an asset
Experience with training program development and evaluation would be an asset
Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred

Permanent Part Time Position; 37.5 Hours
Compensation and Benefits
Psychologist PhD (Candidate Register): $60.80 hourly
Psychologist PhD (Registered): $64.18 - $70.98 hourly
